Farewell Jesse Hogan

Featured Replies

I feel a sadness, an empty feeling. They give you such joy for the very short period they are with us. But oh the memories......Jessie, Liam and Mitch.

Really disappointing to lose Hogan. I reckon he could have become our highest ever goal kicker and dominated the comp for the next 5-7 years.

Anyone down playing his value can only be trying to make themselves feel better

Not much the club could have done though as he wanted to go home.

I want to win a flag! I don't care about highest ever goal kickers.

Lol. Saying one thing means another?

of course we all want to win a flag. Keeping your best young players generally helps with that

My inflatable Jessie Hogan is sitting in the corner of the lounge room right now . . . Scared . . . Scared of the fork that's coming from the kitchen drawer . . . He knows he's going in the bin (aggressively deflated) but doesn't know exactly when.

I'm actually having fun with this

My Hoges figurine is about to see the inside of the microwave, he knows it, he can feel it coming!!!

just for you ...as you're special......

I love “The Big O...”

Was it Bennett Schwartz and neitz lining up in a final in early 90s v Geelong where we got thrashed. The three amigos shook hands at the start of the game but when it came to game time we didn't function well with an overloaded forward line. Jesse's only option was to pplay his final year as a CHB.

Don McLean did a good version also.

Good Lord, I smell a biscuit replacement theme. Roll on 500.

I reckon Hogan's days at Melbourne were numbered when it became apparent we played a better style of footy when he was missing. Not saying Hogan is no good, just that we seem to gel better all over the ground when he is out. After that it was a matter of the footy department deciding what style of players we most needed, and could trading Hogan get those players in.

A very talented player no doubt, but his lack of chase and tackling pressure was completely at odds with the brand Goodwin has been developing since he took the reigns.

I'm really disappointed we have lost Jessie and not fussed about the pick value.

Well I beg your pardon Binman, you're in the minority.

Part of me feels sad about losing Jess. But I'm super excited about landing May, KK and grabbing a pick in the 20's.

May will be absolutely enormous for us. His value goes beyond game-day ability.

Opposition sides would never have once felt 'scared' about walking into a back six that contained Oscar and Frost.

That will change now.

Bloody awful. Way worse than the Scully one, as he was never an amazing player to begin with.

Laughable to see demons supporters desperately trying to claim he was never that crash hot or didn't play Goodwin's system well or that Weed was just as good or that we looked better without him... None of us own crystal balls, but when he ends up a superstar of the comp, don't act shocked.

We need to get better at free agency. I don't know that we will though. We're already in a solid place list wise, and very soon will be right at the top of our cap.

This will be how i shall remember The Colonel.

I am sad he will not ever play a Final for us.

I think this is it. A committed Jesse would have been dynamite -- he's a hell of a player -- but he always gave off the vibe he was most content being a big fish in a small pond.

At Freo they will indulge him and he'll earn himself a comfortable living, and good luck to him. Will get a WA derby each year to give him a taste of the big time.

Over here, Goodwin is making a team that takes no prisoners. Anyone even half resembling a passenger will find it hard to look his teammates in the eye.

Spot on. There is more to it than the go home factor. I can’t believe it didn’t surface this trade period.

I wasn't suggesting I was in the majority.

Agree may will be a terrific and important addition.

Yeah. I can't believe Freo know nothing about his foot amputation surgery booked in for next week.

I cannot see Hogan ever winning a GF for Fremantle.

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
