Luckily I've forgotten what you say will happen.  But what saddens me is that anyone would take such pleasure in crowing when they turn out to be correct.   If you have inside info then there is no credit in being right.  If you haven't, then it is just an opinion in what was pretty much a 2 possibilities situation - will he or won't he.   I'm more interested in reading the pro and con arguments.

There are greater travesties in life to be saddened by, Sue. Lighten up, it’s just a game.

Just put me on ignore. Problem solved.

What did you say would happen again? In a nutshell.

The Weid is in for a huge preseason. I was hoping JH would hang with us for one more season as a transition

but it seems that aint to be.

The AFL lie is alive and thriving well

That we are essentially replacing Hogan with a backman says Hogan is superfluous to our needs ie there really isn't a role for Jessie in our team.  That there was talk of playing him in defence (with or without May) reinforces that.

We are moving Jessie at the right time and three players for one:  May, KK and #23 is a good deal.  Assuming, we find a temporary/permanent solution to outside speed with who we have or get, there is every chance we will not have any real weaknesses in our team next year.  Sure performances will vary but the team overall will be very strong.

May, KK & pick 23 for Hogan is an ok deal. I wanted more, but I can live with this deal.

I live in Qld these days and have been to many Suns games. I rate both May & KK. Especially May.

We get 2 players who WANT to play for MFC and pick 23. I have been a big fan of Hogan, but there has always been something NQR with him.

I wish him all the best at the Dockers.

GO DEES!!! RAISE HELL!!!

That bloke in your avatar finding his form again in 2019 would certainly help with the outside speed solution!

Agreed, I kept quiet but was shattered when there were rumours on here that he might be up for trade.  Couldn't cope with he, Tyson and Bernie going simulatneously!

The bombers totally bent us over in the Melksham/Hibberd trades didn't they? And we got robbed trading up the draft to nab Oliver and Weideman. Plus Adelaide are riding high with those draft picks they acquired for an AA defender with born leadership qualities.

Have some faith for Christ's sake this administration has earnt it

lol, of course we have some faith, we are finally close to being a power club again after all these years. Doesn’t mean we can’t be annoyed with getting way unders for a player we had high hopes would help lead us to a flag and could be one of the better forwards in the comp.

Especially after taking a stance we want high compensation for this player.

with lever, he was out of contract and wanted to leave for the dees. We had “the upper hand” and eventually caved for overs.

wheres the overs for hogan when we are losing the player?! In contract and hasn’t requested a trade.

Apparently we mighy be looking to trade Hogan who has said he is open to returning home to Perth if a mutually agreeable trade can be facilitated. Word is Freo would be the club but apparently their head of football is looking for featgers rather than improving their average list and being diffficult.

My sources suggest a trade will either happen or it wont. Stay tuned.

I smell a rat

I’d accept May, KK and 23 as a break even. What we do with 23 is up to the FD and I would back them to use it wisely.

Anything short of this would be a fail as far as I am concerned.

All the traders should be locked in a room with no chairs, no food, no water, no toilets and not be let out until all the deals are done.

A good mate lives in Perth and has delivered me a beauty this arvo.....

He saw Jesse with his own eyes today and he was signing what could only be described as an autograph for a 8 yr old boy with a footy ?

Regardless of what happens, and who was right or wrong, the fact remains that this is a young bloke with an immense talent who has had a pretty tough few years... We ride the MFC roller coaster with our hearts on our sleeves but we are merely fanatics, baying for blood, wine & a f'ing good time.... the AFL world is our colosseum!

Beat ya to it, but further want to put out that his agility is elite, his contested work is elite and his finishing is better than good.

I really hope Melbourne end up with him as I think his skills not only translate to afl, but has 3-4 positions that he can play which will make him useful.

Yep, I can’t work out why he isn’t talked about more. Wouldn’t be surprised if he moved up the boards closer to draft day(s).

What’s the back six look like now?

hard to find spot for KK.

Jetta OMac Salem

Hibberd May Lever

Only because he got injured. Same people were saying he was a bargain when he was dominating before his knee.

I think we paid overs, not by much but we wanted the deal done rather than dragging it at as Freo have done here.

The deal mooted by The Age is underwhelming to me but if KK is able to rediscover his form and May is able to be the backman everyone is hoping he’ll be then it’s a success.

However I will feel that the time and effort we have invested in Hogan will have been fairly wasted.

I thought, if anything, we got Lever for unders, but that is my opinion, both clubs seem happy.

if we get 5 and 23 for Hogan, fair deal IMO, better that 10&13, which are two first round picks

One of Salem or KK to the wing. Both good overhead with pace and very good disposal.

Mmmm. The rat of whom I am thinking has just jumped a second ship and is now at Hawthorn, perhaps hoping to fullPhil his perceived destiny.    Will look the part in the pees and poos.

I would say that KK is being looked at for a wing position.

Hogan stays. Circus continues another 12 months.

Bell to take the Neale pick 5 to the superdraft, or trade it up for two mid first rounders. Get Hogan in on the cheap next year while adding top shelf young talent to their list now.

As a result May to go to a Melbourne based club, just not us.

Of course I’m not happy with this outcome as a Dees supporter. But this is the route I believe Freo under Bell and Rosich are taking.

They’re not the dills many on here want to cast them as.

Seriously how the f. K does it take them so long?! I’ve seen 10s of $m of contracts agreed and signed in less time every year.

Frankly if Jesse really wants to go to that rabble and play under their pathetic coach, good luck to him.  Hope he gets really frustrated.

Because they cant get him if he doesn't agree to go to them.  It ain't the draft.

Bit of an ouch scenario, but plausible.

I do agree that those guys may not be as stupid as they look.

I’m sticking to my guns and saying Hogan will be a Docker by 8.30pm tomorrow night, and we will have May, KK and a pick.

So out Hogan Kent Tyson

In: May, KK, Preuss, 23, 62, 65

How many list spots does that leave us with? How many draft picks will we need to take?

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
