This has “go home factor”, Freo, Mitch Clark and 11 th hour surprise destination all over it

Next he’ll be unboxing new Nikon

He did live with Mitch Clark for a while if I remember correctly

Even if WC could satisfy a trade I’m not sure how they would fit him in. They’re already very top heavy and while that worked this year I don’t know how you’d add Hogan into that mix.

Interesting that another team may have entered the mix, if it’s Victorian and Hogan is considering it any goodwill I’d have towards the bloke would be shattered. I understand a desire to get home, surely it’s Perth or stay at Melbourne.

Get quality in, worry about team balance later I reckon. Especially with Kennedy's age and body letting him down multiple times a season.

If he ended up at a non-WA club it’d virtually be proof we pushed him out the door.

Fairly sure with the news that came out today there would be 16 other teams asking the question...

Surely 500 pages is on the cards before a trade gets sorted. I am new to the Demonland and love the analysis and banter. With another club in the mix 500 should be well within reach. Hell, if 16 other clubs interested, better upgrade the servers.

Could Goldcoast genuinely be an option? Ton of cash to blow and no doubt would get a helping hand from the AFL in some way, draft picks to burn, and out of the spotlight for Hogan.

Did 9 news perth reveal who the other club the manager spoke to was??

Nah. But there’s a lot to go under the bridge. I hope we are into Dom Sheeds ear to move to the big town of football and the MCG. Long shot I know

Just Google search  how Luke Ball forced his way to Collingwood. That should explain it for you.

So to be clear you think there is a risk jessie will get to freo via next year's draft? And we get nothing.

I know nothing about Dom Sheed, save that people said Gaffs suspension opened the door for him. So he doesn't sound like he has much value.

Could be AF. Could be anything.

All we need to do is stick fat to our evaluation of Hogan and sit tight. I’m not buying for a second that they’ve ‘cooled’. We’re talking about a side that finished 14th who’s coach is under pressure.

They will cave.

Completely agree, mate.

This has become very messy but I believe that the fundamentals have not changed.

I understand that Hogan is 50/50 about leaving or staying. Freo is 50/50 about making a fair offer or not and MFC is a bit sidelined waiting to see what reasonable offer comes from Freo.

The first offer made by them is so far off the mark that I think we may be looking at leaving the table and keeping Hogan for next season.

I would have no problem with that. I think in these days there is an expectation from the player that they want the club to act professionally and there is a reciprocal expectation that the club has of the player. It would make for an interesting season to see what comes out of the woodwork by way of a contract extension or possible clubs willing to deal.

If no deal is done it may be that Hogan in fed up with the seasonal speculation about his return to Perth and the distraction it provides. it might just push him into making a longer term commitment.

It would be good to see what he could produce without this happening each trade season.

Hey Australia hung on for a draw in the First Test v Pakistan. Great effort by Khawaja - 141. Also Tim Paine - 61 n.o. And of course Shaun Marsh - 0 ..... Not to be outdone by his brother, Mitchell Marsh - 0.

According to the AFL site there just waiting on the Neale deal and then the Hogan and May deal will get done.

Spot on, Olisik.

And if he was on the open market and available to all teams we would get two top 6 picks for him.

Sadly that isnt the case.

We can match the offer

Do some research and understand the basics of how the draft and trade period works Einstein. We don't get an opportunity to match the offer if he goes into the draft and he's not a free agent. Fact

I never said he was a free agent.

His MFC contract will run out at the end of 2019.

Any player can refuse to sign a contract extension and put themselves into the draft.

DO YOU REMEMBER THAT'S WHAT PLAYERS DID BEFORE FREE AGENCY. THEY CAN STILL DO IT.

Correct. Very risky move though for the player and potential club so doubt / hope this doesn't happen. In any case don't think Jessie would do that to mfc given the positive relationship we have with him

Call their bluff.

If  you don’t have single digit picks, then we’ll take Cerra and Brayshaw ... and maybe we’ll throw in a second round bone.

They just had a single digit pick they downgraded!!!

It should be that ‘we told you the price’ now don’t come cap in hand because you spent the cash elsewhere

Fremantle made a low ball offer that we cannot accept.

But the hypocrisy of the "hardmen" here is gobsmacking.

On one hand it's "5 + 6 or tell Freo to get [censored]." "Mahoney needs to man up".  We even had one highly respected poster saying the fair price is 5 + 6 + Brayshaw/Cerra.

Now Peter Bell comes out with the same logic at the other end of the scale and the outrage is palpable.  You hardmen should be appreciating and admiring his work.  It's the way to negotiate according to you isn't it?

It's just turbulence, Mahoney is smarter than that and we'll get the right deal. Relax.

They deliberately offer 11 & a future 2nd round pick knowing that we'll reject it. Once the receive Brisbane's pick 5 the final offer will be 5 & a future 2nd round pick. That's just my opinion.

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

Who would have imagined, when the season kicked off early last month, that Melbourne would emerge from the opening six weeks with wins over both Queensland powerhouses? At the time, Gold Coast and Brisbane were the competition’s early pace-setters, the flavours of the month, and the prospect of the Demons toppling both within the course of a fortnight seemed remote. Yet here they are, banking those scalps alongside home victories over two traditional Victorian rivals and building a quietly impressive resume.
