Don't be surprised if Andrew Brayshaw comes into serious discussions.Β

What why gives nothing! If we trade and he is part of the equation MFC have taken eye of ball and still play Cinderella! A big NO from me!

Never easy fearing an absolute gun forward leaving the club while contracted, especially that the premiership window seems to be opened wide. But the footage is the sealer - we plan for a post-Hogan tilt at the flag.

Sorry to see him go. Loved his footy, but his personal griefs might be weighing a bit too heavy.Β I for one amΒ proud that our club is treating him as a human being before treating him like a product.Β

Weird to see that footage and make all this stuff sprouted become a reality. I knew it was happening, but seeing that and having that moment was strange!

If we get Brayshaw and first rounder, do we still trade the first rounder for May and opt out of the first round for the 4th year running?

Considering Andrew came from last years draft, then i'd say yes.

Not at all.Β  This is much, much different to that.

I get the feeling that there is a lot in play for the club this trade/draft season.

We must have had some pretty solid commitments from players or clubs that they will trade with us if we have opened up so many spaces on our list and are willing to look at possible trades for Hogan, Tyson, Kent and VDB. After all, we do not have any early picks in the draft at present.

I do not see much in the way of free agents looking at us.

I think totally different scenario. Β 1 left after 2 years for money. Β Whilst I think Jess will get well paid, he has given 6 years and wants to go home.Β

You can’t seriously compare Jesse Hogan to Tom Scully ...

So would I, Dub, but the point I'm trying to make is that it's not the end of the world in terms of our depth if he chooses to leave.Β  I'd much, much, MUCH, rather he stay, but we're covered in case a McDonald or Weideman goes down with our ability to swing someone forward (Frost), potentially play a resting ruck there more (Preuss/Gawn) or go through some of our mid sized forwards (Melksham, Petracca, Fritsch, Hannan).

Sounds to me like you're assessing Jesse's value to the team and weighing up whether or not we might improve the list if he was traded

[Jesse gets in his car, and drives cross country through the night, top down, hand tapping on the door]

Jesse (in tears): this ..... this is the most beautiful day of my football career!

Goodwin: I know mate! Tell me about it. We got 5 and 6 AND Gus's brother, AND Freo have to pay US half your salary!

Jesse: w ....... what???

Goodwin: Now f**k off back to to purple freak land, the rest of us are going down the pub to celebrate.

Other players: yeah, f**k off Docker! P*ss off turncoat! etc etc

[Jesse drives back across the Nullabor playing Taylor Swift songs all the way]

Firstly, we don't know who will end up having the better career when it comes to Angus and Petracca and secondly no conclusions could be drawn between Andrew and Cerra even if we could.

It's an irrelevant observation with no answer.

Never said Angus will have a better career than Petracca.Β Β  He has gone past him,Β  however.

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

The media has performed a complete reversal in its coverage of the Melbourne Football Club over the past month and a half. Having endured intense criticism from all quarters in the press, which continually identified new avenues for scrutiny of every aspect, both on and off the field, and prematurely speculated about the departures of coaches, players, officials, and various employees from a club that lost its first five matches and appeared out of finals contention, the narrative has suddenly shifted to one of unbridled optimism.Β  The Demons have won five of their last six matches, positioning themselves just one game (and a considerable amount of percentage) outside the top eight at the halfway mark of the season. They still trail the primary contenders and remain far from assured of a finals berth.

  • REPORT: Sydney

A few weeks ago, I visited a fellow Melbourne Football Club supporter in hospital, and our conversation inevitably shifted from his health diagnosis to the well-being of our football team. Like him, Melbourne had faced challenges in recent months, but an intervention - in his case, surgery, and in the team's case, a change in game style - had brought about much improvement.Β  The team's professionals had altered its game style from a pedestrian and slow-moving approach, which yielded an average of merely 60 points for five winless games, to a faster and more direct style. This shift led to three consecutive wins and a strong competitive effort in the fourth game, albeit with a tired finish against Hawthorn, a strong premiership contender.Β  As we discussed our team's recent health improvement, I shared my observations on the changes within the team, including the refreshed style, the introduction of new young talent, such as rising stars Caleb Windsor, Harvey Langford, and Xavier Lindsay, and the rebranding of Kozzy Pickett from a small forward to a midfield machine who can still get among the goals. I also highlighted the dominance of captain Max Gawn in the ruck and the resurgence in form in a big way of midfield superstars Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver.Β

The Demons controlled the contest from the outset, though inaccurate kicking kept the Swans in the game until half time. But after the break, Melbourne put on the jets and blew Sydney away and the demolition job was complete.
