What he achieved in his first two seasons counts for nothing now. He is clearly not the player we all thought he’d be which ever way you spin it. 

Im all for trading him, but would want a gun mid in return. One that fits our age/talent profile. Then target a Peter Wright or similar.

If the season was over, then maybe i'd talk trades. We got to use what we've got for now.

Hogan's fix's the one flaw in his game eg, instead of stuttering up to his set shot at goal like he's trying to pull off a ridiculous dance maneuver and just kick the skin off it; he'd at the very least be a 50/50 chance and we'd all love him.

Yes he is injured. My seat is very close to the interchange bench and he hobbles badly when he comes off. Maybe knee, or possibly ankle. Anyway, they should rest him at least next week, and bring Weideman in. This injury is affecting his confidence, ability to compete in the air, and his kicking. As to trading him, I think that all depends on his intentions from 2020 onwards. If he wants to go back home, then get the deal done.

is he a good kick? no

does he apply defensive pressure? no

is he a good mark? he's ok but wrestles too much.

If we had:
- A realistic chance to get Tom Lynch as a free agent
- Enough confidence that Sammy Weideman will make at least a solid back up ruck and contest/drop the ball down forward option
- If we can get and rate Brennan Cox from Freo as part of a larger package

Then yep I'll drive Jesse to the airport myself.

In his defence he might be injured and playing week in week out through the trademark Melbourne Medical Mismanagement but he looks fine sprinting after the ball when he's going to get an easy goal.

He's been such a flat track bully this year. Disgusting football. And for weeks many on here have wondered why he isn't rested or dropped. Today's performance was coming.

We’re being told he was in AA form at the halfway point of the year.

Trade Hogan, then what? We get a pick or two and use it on who?

Hogan is not the problem, there are many issues with our club, how ever in saying trade Hogan is silly.

The players need to man up, learn to kick straight, not panic and give off dinkey hand passes, run their guts out etc, etc etc.

Oh and we need mids  who are able to get the ball to the goal square and then kick through those big white sticks.

The club also needs to ask the AFL about the umpires, because we fart, you just gave away a free kick. 

Why has the club allowed those green snot blokes to get away with what they have been doing for years now?

We did not have one holding the ball, yet the swans just kept getting them?

It loos like we will miss playing finals yet again, but hay as the saying goes there is always next year and you know what it will be the same as this year and the year before.

The AFL has us and all the other clubs by the you know what's, and there is not a hell of a thing we can do about it, they control the clubs like puppets on a string, do as your told or you will get your back side spanked.

I still think he is a better CHF.  Not a full forward. Terrible kicking. Not confident.  

Has all the physical attributes but mentally on the edge. 

No comparison to a Wayne Carey. More a Matthew Richardson type. A good player. Yes. Not a great!!

Not stirring at all, people who call for the trade of Hogan have the footy acumen of a sponge. 

He is close to the most untradable player on our list, his efforts this year have been far superior to what’s is portrayed by the gooses that suggest his trade. 

Trading Hogan, puts us back 4-5 years. There is no legitimate reason to trade him and suggestions from anyone to do it is just stupid. The further calls of playing him in VFL and playing Pederson as a forward are stupid. While I’m at it suggestion of trading Petracca is stupid also.

you'd trade oliver before hogan? crazy!! oliver is a best and fairest winner, likely AA this year, and maybe top 5 in the brownlow medal. And unlike hogan he tries his guts out each week.  you're one of the guys that probably wanted to keep watts. Hogan is a defensive liability  And his kicking is awful. when hogan misses games melbourne often plays better. i'd be more than willing to trade hogan for the right price.

I will preface by saying I did want to keep Watts and think that he would have been able to help hitting up targets inside 50 this year, but also think that Fritsch was an acceptable trade off. 

 

But, I never stated anything about wanting to trade Oliver, I said almost, Hogan is top 5 in our untradeables, and would be close to top 3. Gawn and Oliver are 1/2. 

 

I think you are flat out wrong, he’s nearly been our most important player this year. His early year form was at all Australian level. I will agree that his pressure on the ground could improve, but will put that down to efforts in the air and km covered. 

 

Its ridiculous for people to call for him to be traded. But sure, if we get the right compensation he is tradeable. As with anyone. If we got Grundy and Sidebottom for Gawn I’d trade Gawn, but it’s unrealistic. To trade Hogan for draft picks is ridiculous

This possibility is why I think Melbourne is a potential suitor for Tom Lynch.  Trading Hogan secures us picks to trade, and frees up salary space.

 

If I was Tom Lynch, Melbourne would virtually guarantee him ulitmate supply.  We get the ball I50 more than any other team.
