Yep, but it definitely makes the most sense.

I can see why everyone is discussing who we put on who but consider that we finished 5th, our midfield of Max, Oliver, Brayshaw and now Harmes is A grade, so let them worry about us and our weapons.

Viney and Vandenberg didn't play and Garlett, Hogan and Vince were in for the last Geelong game. An inexperienced midfield contributed to the loss at geelong and we can add experience and grunt. Remember Hogan was lame after he got a knee in his back in the first quarter.

I am starting to believe that we are much better than we all realise and yes we have days and quarters when the team loses its way but they are becoming fewer. The last 2 weeks highlight what we can do, so let the Cats worry about us and what stategies THEY need to combat us

1- Cats will put a man behind the play. They’ll try to have a loose man to prevent our scoring.  Watch for Henderson or Taylor to play loose. 

2- They known Gawn is a key. They will attack the body. It’s finals footy. Cut him down is their approach. They might play Smith and Blicavs. 

3- Stop Hawkins  

4- tackling is the key. Stop Geelongs constantly moving the footy.  We paid the price 5 weeks ago. 

Like it or not they've the recent rights to choccies. We need to respect that but counter with good preparation and good matchups. 

We have shown we can play FASTER than they are able. Use this...but with precision and flair ( like Sunday ) We also showed , to them, we couldn't close the sale. Since then we've bettered our finish ( Weagles ) ...we have our intercept game nearly back...ask the Giants

I expect a very different game...a very different result.

Doesn't matter if we were undefeated the entire home and away season and were playing gold coast, you still need to respect the strengths of the opposition and plan accordingly. I'm not suggesting we change our core game plan to accommodate the cats. 

Our planning into the giants ANB to whitfield, harmes to kelly, was part of the reason we won on the weekend. 

We plan for Geelong's strengths (5 gun mids, 2 AA defenders and career form Hawkins), but like i said originally, we let our contested ball and offence do the talking. 

Can't wait to see Scott's head explode

Good.  Let him take us easy.  Let's see how that pans out for him when Melksham kicks his fourth early in the last to put the game beyond reach.

Need a couple of enforcers just in case. Not trying to sound boneheaded but I’d hate to see some of our younger guys taken out. Just need some guys like Lewis to get in their face if needed. Do NOT make it easy for them.

Its a good point. We have AVB this time and ANB has taken a step up in that dept. Viney comes in as well and im not sure what the final prognosis is with Kent. Lewis, Hibberd, Melksham and Jones all have finals experience. Im sure Goody will tell them a thing or 2. There have been times this year where we have been a bit soft, but it looks like its disappearing lately.

I’m still shocked that people done realise the majority of the second half Frost was on Hawkins last game. That said I genuinely don’t think we match up poorly against them in any area of the field. If we are able to change lanes consistently and use it well/convert inside 50 we will win. Dangerfiel and Selwood putting the team on their back is somewhat of a worry, it I don’t think our midfield is outmatched by any in the comp. 

They play keepings off footy and avoid contests. I’m sorry, but we are built to beat teams like this. We win the contested footy and then let teams off the hook on the outside. If we don’t switch off like we have done for 2 of the 8 Quarters we have played them - we will win.

Will totally understand a bit of stage fright - in the first 5 mins - then it is time to get to work. 

Biggest thing that killed us both games was our inefficient forward entries, too many long bombs and then inaccurate kicking for goal, particularly when we were dominant. 

I also think back to QB with the big build up and big crowd, we were overwhelmed and didn’t switch on. Since then we’ve played in front of other hostile crowds and come out strong, we have to make sure we don’t get sucked in by Geelongs experienced players getting in our players heads. 

I feel like Viney is the wildcard here, without match fitness do we throw him straight into the guts? Maybe have him start outside the centre square to run in with purpose to smash the first Geelong player to grab the footy? Or perhaps start him in the half forward area to feel the game first before throwing him into the centre?

Honestly I have dreams of Dangermouse gathering the ball and Jack tackling him hard into the ground (legally of course) and knocking him out like what OMac did to Darling.

We countered this very well at the Cattery last time out, blocking their path out of defence and through the middle, but when they switched tactics in the last and took risks we weren't prepared or couldn't defend. It will be interesting if they head directly for this playbook this time - and then it's absolutely a matter of negating their mids in the centre and defending quick forward entries (e.g. by manning up a bit more). 

I just hate this club so so so very much. Their arrogance disgusts me. 

I think they are very vulnerable and very gettable. Nobody I would rather play first up than Geelong. 

We should have beaten them twice this year. Third time should be a charm. If we haven’t learnt by now what we need to do to beat them then we don’t deserve the win.

It has been a perennial problem but without Jesse at full forward it should stop. Jesse should never play inside 50 as his real talent is let free when in the midfield/chf position.

Can you tell the coaching staff please?

Just got to make the most of our opportunities, we've managed 57 scoring shots against them (they only had 47) and have had 37 more inside 50 across the 2 games. 

If Geelong play the spare man in the forward 50 we need to instill fear into him. Let VNB crunch him a few times under the high ball and he won't be there for long....

On the flip side, Scott will instruct his big forward(s) to knee Gawn in the back whenever they get the chance.

Frost will not start on Hawkins, despite doing well after the horse bolted at KP.  We need him rebounding shallow entries, as he has done.

They're pretty handy at the rebound 50 thingy....we were pretty handy at initiating it for them by kicking it to them.

This has to stop. I have noticed eyes lowering a bit in last two games ( hmmmm ) 

Keep this up and we deny them that 1st possession ...keeps OUR attack live. Amazing what can happen if we don't cough it up
