I just got told Gawn is out this week.

Goodwin on Gawn: He’s just having a light week.

He’ll train fully on Saturday and he will play on Sunday. We’re really confident about that.

Omac will get first crack at buddie. If he is killing him frosty gets next crack.

But buddy is not the key to this game. It is the medium to small forwards who have troubled us thisvseason, hawkins bag of 6 notwithstanding.

Swans need 100 points to beat us. Dees will happily give buddy 5-6 goals if they are not fonding goals elsewhere.

He might be a better fit in terms of pace and the fact that buddy plays up the ground a bit. But buddy is not fully fitvand is playing deeper so i reckon omac will get the nod.

Our number one key defender on their number one forward is funny?  Righto.

While I think Frost is the better matchup, I'd be more than happy to see Oscar get first crack on Sunday afternoon.

Exactly.

Omac has taken the oppos number 1 forward all season.

At the pointy end of the season we are top 4, so unarguably one of the best sides in the competition.

They may well go with frost because they think he is a better match up (ie pace and strength). But given our ladder position they are just as likely to stick with a winning formula.

On a related note, suggestions he might be dropped are absurd.

Goodwin on Franklin: "Sam Frost will get the first look at Buddy, and we’ll have some plans in place. "

Well done on being wrong again.

Wrong?  Hardly.

My point was that you were laughing at the idea of Oscar playing on Buddy, which is ridiculous.  There is no reason why, at some stage, Oscar won't play on him.  I even said I think Sam Frost is a better match up in my previous post.

Leave it alone mate. I, and many others, value Card’s inputs. Sniping from the side isn’t helpful

From someone who is so consistently wrong that is high praise indeed.

He knows whereof one speaks.

I wasn't having a go at Cards.  In fact, I don't think I've ever had a go at him.

Thanks for trying, though.

IN: Hunt, Melksham

OUT: Smith (injj), Vandenberg (omit)

Pedersen to be the non playing emergency in case Gawn doesn't get up.

It's disappointing he isn't playing, but I think it's the right move.  Both he and Hibberd can return for the Eagles game fit and ready to go.  Of course we would prefer to have him, but at this stage we gain nothing by rushing him back too soon.

Oh damn!  Thanks for the heads up.

Vanders keeps his spot for another week then I guess.

So much for the idea he was being sneakily rested vs the Suns.  Bummer.

Pretty gutsy call debuting a very young ruckman coming off a 2 possession  2 hitout game in the VFL.

what was his disposal efficiency?    ?

Hunt for Smith

Pedo for Gawn (if unfit)

please do not play Gawn if he is at risk.  we can win without him.

Oliver could read a ruckman with Parkinsons

I would put Goodwin on the Dave Mission category of "grain of salt".. said Melksham would only miss 1 week..

I still think Gawn is highly unlikely to play.

With the Sunday game and the extended interchange I can see the team tonight being:

Out: J.Smith

In: Pedersen, Weid, Hunt, Wagner and Kent

Whoever the in for Smith will obviously not play for Casey, but I could see more than 1 coverage player being held over from Saturday's game, in particular Peds and Weid as cover for Maxy

I liked the earlier posts that had Melksham coming back for Smith and Fritsch covering for Smith.

Assuming Melksham does not return I can still see a similar move with Hannan or less likely Kent being the inclusion.

Wagner doesn't cut it and Hunt has done nothing for 18 months.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
