They should just put the padlock on the gates at GC, let the kids go back to their home state to their families.

Sydney are rubbish.  If we can't beat them then we don't deserve to play finals.

My only issue with today was our kicking inside 50.  It's still poor.

Huge man crush on Brayshaw.

Thought he was really good today and so far this season.

A strong win against weak opposition today.  Sing the song:  enjoy the win:  recover well;  review the game;  and move on quickly to prepare for next Sunday arvo at the 'G".  The demands increase every week from now on boys.  Go Demons.

If we beat the Swans AND some other results happen next week are we mathematically LOCKED IN?

Gaff will be out for rest of the season for that, shocking thug hit on Brayshaw and Bugg like. Knocked his teeth out

Anyone who wants Gaff at Melbourne next to Gus Brayshaw needs to think again.

If we beat the Swans, the Hawks beat Geelong and the Dogs beat the Kangas, we will be locked in to the finals after next round.

Edit -  unless we lose our last two games by 10+ goals and Geelong win their last two by 10+.

The AFL has a bit of a problem on its hands with this GCFC experiment.

1 beat Swans - go to 52 points.

2. Hawthorn beat Geelong. Cats stay on 44

3. Footscray beat North. Kangas stay on 44.

Then - either one of them must win both last 2 games AND makeup 12.5 % if we lost last two and surrendered 12.5%.

Go Dees

Hawks

Dogs

Gaff will be out for Dees game I can guarantee that, so that’s a positive.

Great work, got the job done. Now the real work starts.

Shame about Smith, was looking promising today, just needs to tidy up his decision making/disposal. Hopefully it’s a confidence thing.

Gaff should be gone for the year for that punch

Worse than Buggs as he was looking at him

Clayton Oliver is that good!

Would say it was a Dusty/Dangerfield display... but it was a Clayton Oliver display.

Smashed their confidence in the 1st and just preserved ourselves for next week and beyond.

Joel Smith the only blemish. Hope the lad is ok, doesn't look good tho.???

Great game and always, it is fantastic to have a win - and one so convincing as this game against the Suns. However, we must all wish Joel a complete, speedy recovery from a 'dangerous tackle' slinging him to the ground. His game, today, was the best he has played for the MFC with some great intercepts and running pick-ups, good disposals and coverage of his opponents. Well done - best wishes with the recovery.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
