FMD how the hell did we lose to St Kilda. The costliest loss of the decade.

Get the win tommorow Dees then smack the living suitcases out of these, "Everything on a silver platter" Swans.

Can't stand them.

Think it’s 70 years since Melbourne played Tigers in a final. Maybe Bluey Truscott’s last game.

I would love to Play Richmond week 1

Lets not get into this now, positives vibes now are required.

Feels like 70 years since we played anyone in a final.....

Bradbury plan was only ever to make the finals. After that we're on our own.

Could be his last game...

And I see no reason why we can't be doing that.  The Eagles in Perth will be tough, but I think we can match them on the day.

Actually it’s a bit less conceivable than I thought. West Coast are two games ahead of us, I thought they were only one. Obviously my scenario had us beating them (and therefore passing them) but they’d need to drop one of their other games as well to not still finish 2nd. Given their other games are Freo, Port and Brisbane that seems a long shot.

Could be anyone's last game if we take the pessimistic line...

13 will likely get us in but there are scenarios that say 14 in needed. @Supermercado has a scenario where a team misses out on 13 wins and 8th being on 14.

It's actually fairly likely now, not just a possibility

Hawks, Geelong, North could all easily finish on 14

We need Geelong you lose to Hawthorn or North to lose to Adelaide

Ladies and gentlemen, the top 4 has really opened up. We are a massive chance of a sneaky top 4.

Obviously this is code for missing the top 8, or is it...

Go you f’ing demons! Take your chances!!

Now we will find out if Goodwin can really Coach. It’s all on the line

I think its we find out if the 22 players that run out tomorrow can deal with expectation and want a top 4 spot desperately.

Foot injuries in a running game.

September is up 15-20%

Perth Demons

Sydney looked better tonight but they were playing an injury-riddled Collingwood who haven't beaten anyone good other than us (and we haven't beaten anyone better than North). And Sydney still only managed 18 scoring shots (Collingwood had 21).

I'm still confident we can beat them next week.

Anyone see the Jenkins point given a goal and cleared by score review.

The AFL have also cleared it.

Joke...

Hinkley is rightfully fuming over this one.

You can clearly see the ball spin change and direction change as soon as it hits the post...

Watched the pies v swans match with my pies supporting partner ( loves Melb but unfortunately I can’t extend the same courtesy) had some empathy for the pies with the amount of injuries......so don’t think the swans win was that meritorious.....I remember thinking last year when we had so many injuries ( not acknowledged by the media aka the pies this year) that with a reasonably injury free list this year we will do so much better...we have so far but  the rest of the competition also improves & so it proves a point that you must take your chances when presented ......go dees for the next 4 games & beyond !!

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons have the Bye next week but then are on the road once again when they come up against the Gold Coast Suns on the Gold Coast in what could be a last ditch effort to salvage their season. Who comes in and who comes out?

  • POSTGAME: Port Adelaide

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
