You betcha, correct, correct, correct. Aggression is the key up to a point, toughness is even more. My little post before this one was more of a joke or jest at creating friends with umpires who can/do interfere with our games to our detriment in the recent past. That is why I'd like to see our team full of bulls, hitt'em hard-types, no mercies or apologies, see ball-get ball and use it, knock the sheet outta 'em. Do it, move ahead, as you say.

So do I.  I want US to be more like Sheedy's Essendon sides, & doin' it to them.   The old hawk sides of the time.

We've been taken over by 3AW styled do-good'rs__ for 50Yrs...  time is up.  and time to pay & play...    Les plaisirs démodés

I’d normally agree DO but GC are done, we will wipe the floor with them.

It will be interesting to see what GC do... how they come out.

The flood gates in their minds may be open right now, so they may be all thinking of their furture's elsewhere; and sort of escapism's.

Will be interesting to see who plays with heart.

Also same with us, to see who of us have the killer instinct and who do not.   This will be what we should be looking at/for...  see who wants it most.

It seems quite a few of the young Suns are angry at Lynch's defection and told him so in no uncertain terms.  https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/afl-2018-tensions-high-among-gold-coast-suns-playing-group-after-tom-lynch-departure/news-story/51496c9832adfacf7628a3d42315afdc

They may well vent their spleen against us on Sunday.  We need to be switched on from the first bounce - none of these slow starts of recent weeks.

I feel comfortable at 27 points up, when it's below that there's uneasiness.

  • vs Crows from Q4 2:02 when Galucci goaled we were <27 ahead
  • vs Geelong from Q4 4:08 when Hawkins goaled we were <27 ahead

As posted above, in the last 4 minutes it's a goal per minute threshold.

Its interesting that the bookies pay out at 24 points in front.  That must be statistically an important barrier.  Those knobs dont like giving money away...

Thanks, daisy, you've saved me a small fortune with such advice. A pie with sauce is expensive enough! Paid $10.80 for a single can at Adelaide Oval for the Crows game - craft beer? Absolute rubbish! Didn't even serve it in the can - gave me a plastic cup and it went flat in 30 seconds.

I'm not sure that all their players will be in the same mind frame. ????

It'll only take 2 being 'off', to effect their whole team.

Yep ... couldn't agree more ET.

We're a different club these days and the players will be out to win and win well.  Competition for spots is hot so by default,  no player will want to under perform.

We just need to carry on where we left off last week ... I'm super confident that we will.

Really happy to see vanders back - one vigorous player replaces another.

They’re more likely to be distracted and wet the bed I reckon. Not exactly a group with a steely resolve. They’re also a young side battered and bereft of confidence after a long season, on the road yet again. We really should grind them to dust.

This is a massive danger game for us. I think we will win by plenty but this is the sort of game some players may already have penciled in as a win

It's not a danger game upstairs IMO.  Mentally we found a way to win last week from behind so the effort/desire was there, but we need to remember it was against a pretty poor opponent form wise.

The game day analyst would have passed his own match day output/ratings on to the FD from last week also and they wouldn't have been pretty.  If we play to last week's standards it's still a very slim marginal win but in order to get an extra percentage boost we will need to take it up a few rungs.

We have more than double their number of senior players and they have more than double the number of rookies in their team so if we can turn it on we should post a reasonable win.

Smith's butt is surely on the line this week.  Another horror or even ordinary game, especially against such a rookie skewed team, and i doubt we see him in a senior role for the remainder of this season (injuries aside).  Hunt just has  to come in to replace Joel next week if he shows any degree of form with Casey this week IMHO.

This is where the senior boys need to rev the younger lads up, make sure they don't get into a mode of penciling this win in. Stranger things have happened.

The good news is that aside from the saints we have actually brought a scary level of intensity and skill against weaker sides. Putting possible finals to one side there has to be competition for spots so everyone should be expected to bring it on Sunday or there'll be someone knocking down the door at Casey to replace them.

I think you'll find Pates, that it will be the younger guys trying to rev up the older blokes. Clarry and Gus won't be taking anything for granted, nor Maxxy (though he ain't a pup any more).

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
