There are thousands of supporters who, like me, prefer to stand. I've been a platinum member for more than 20 years, as have many of my mates. As such we have access to a seat on level one. Every week we stand. At Etihad we stand on the concourse. I can't watch the footy from a seat.

When the Cats get the funding they will complete their stadium with a stand where the present GA exists. There will be no general admittance area (with free seat). You will need to pay (in today's money) $60 to watch the footy.

It's highly likely that fewer than 2000 tickets will be available to opposition supporters.

I grew up in Geelong and have experienced the standing area many times. I happened to be in Geelong and had the option of attending the match. It’s quite unlike me, but I declined in the knowledge I’d probably end up in the standing area & I’m quite partial to a heated argument.

That standing area is trouble, enables quick trips to the bar and back, and my better judgment dictates that I avoid it, lest I found out I’m not as tough as I think I am.

The footage only showed a Geelong supporter kicking a bloke on the ground, and another one taking a fresh-air swing at the back of a Melbourne supporters head. 

Nothing much to write home about, but the lesson is this: the Geelong crowd are scum.

I get that mate. I know a lot of people who always like to stand. But after the Hillsborough disaster of ‘89 i am suprised OH&S allow it at any modern stadium.

Some people have a massive problem and much of it is down to the toxic masculinity that is ingrained into our culture. We don't have to be stoning women to death in some parts of the Muslim world to be demonstrating an incredibly dangerous masculinity. Inter-partner violence, domestic violence, spousal rape etc are all big problems in our society. I know because my wife works in the space and I hear some [censored] horrible stories.

I get whiteline fever at the footy and I get very angry. I've never hit anyone in my entire life, but I made a conscious effort at the start of this season to try and control my trigger response to Melbourne turnovers, bad umpiring and Melbourne losses. I'm not perfect and I still get incredibly angry, but I'm getting better and it also means I can move on quicker (this Geelong loss is taking longer than usual though!).

I've been a feminist a long time and the sooner some men acknowledge their propensity for anger and trigger responses, the sooner we can start to eradicate this scummy, lowlife behaviour.

The more we're in denial, as you seem to be, the longer it will continue. The world I want to live in isn't populated with boofhead gronks who want to get around beating up people, because they're too stupid to understand their own feelings.

My girlfriend (a Brit) was really surprised and shocked at how [censored] off I was after the Port loss. Of course I would never hurt her but she kept poking and making fun of how upset I was. 

I had to calmly (but still clearly annoyed) tell her to just let me be, just let me be annoyed for a bit and let the frustration out. She then got annoyed at me for that! ?

My point is I’m a very patient guy and I can let my frustrations out in healthy ways. There are too many that don’t, and it’s silly to ignore the fact that heightened emotions from sport create higher instances of DV.

As a child and young teen I went to nearly every Dees game with my dad but he point blankly refused to take me to a game at Geelong. 

As an adult, I did trek out to Geelong once and once only. I understood my dads reasons after that.

I saw it all unfold in front of me in a Newsroom as i was recording the overnight feed. Watching people die in front of me ( through a Camera Lens) is a vision i never forget. Standing room was abolished because of it. 

I am suprised Jeelong are still able to offer Standing room in that form (Concrete steps)
