Just heard on the pdcast DeeTales with Kerry Lambert, and she mentioned she spoke to Billy Stretch last week and Billy mentioned his foot was a bit sore going into the Freo game but the medicos said just go out and try and run it out..

The rest is history....

Some people will believe anything that is fed to them.

So frustrating that it had been sore for weeks and only now has he been sent off for scans and taken off legs. Not sure who is to blame, Viney not reporting it or medical staff not treating and investigating it properly, but either way it will cost us now and isn't professional enough. We've had a number of these foot injuries the past few years, more than any other club (Trengove, Garland, Grimes, Vanders, Viney x 2, McDonald, Stretch), so we should have learnt how to treat them by now.

I'll be [censored] ropable if 2017 repeats and we narrowly miss finals again with Jack is sitting on the sidelines. [censored] ropeable.

Are you questioning the integrity of B. Stretch with the above statement Mr. Dry?

For all those predicting doom and gloom and saying this will cost us etc etc

We won 5 out of 8 games with Jack out of the side, and 5 out of 8 with Jack in the side this season. Seems to me will manage just fine for a few weeks in his absence.

And where were those sides on the ladder v the ones we’re about to play?

Kerry Lambert may have heard incorrectly

Came from the horses mouth himself.. said Billy was one of the most down to earth player she's ever met when they chatted at lunch.. i would then highly doubt she would try and twist his words around just to suit her agenda.

If you look at current ladder position, we lost to 2 top 8 sides both with him in and out of the team. And beat 0 top 8 teams both when he was in and out of the side.

if you look at ladder position at the time the game was played we won 1 game against top 8 sides with him and out of the team. And lost to 2 top 8 teams when he was in and out of the team.

So on all measures there is no difference

So you heard him say this to her.

No but she wouldnt get on a SEN MFC podcast and flat out lie about considering the club would have some sort of link to this podcast.

I honestly have no idea where you're going with this as usual, but if your point is that i shouldnt believe anything that Kerry said even though she mentioned Billy said this to her then ok.....

There it is then, settled. Move on lads. In my view, if we can do it without him, we’ll just have to keep at it - the fact is we don’t have a choice now, so let’s get on with it until he returns! Go dees

As with any injury to a major player there are two sides to it. Obviously it’s disapointing we don’t have him and we should tread very carefully with it given his history, but we certainly have better depth now and we can use this as an opportunity for someone to step up.

Tyson is the obvious candidate to come back in but he’s very hit and miss (literally) even though I’d say I’m a fan.

We brought Hannan in vs Bulldogs to increase our leg spear on the outside, and we have Spargo showing quite a bit of upside wherever we use him. The other one could be Oscar Baker might get a chance in Viney’s absence if he shows enough form at Casey.

Bottom line it sucks but let’s make the most of a bad situation.

Unless I actually heard Billy or anyone else for that matter say anything I just take it as hearsay, things get distorted quite easily. No more from me on this subject.

If Viney played on Saturday night we win the game comfortably in my opinion.

I'm still filthy that either he or the club (or both) have mismanaged his injury once again .

I doubt we'll ever know the truth but the mind boggles that we are in the same scenario from 12 months ago yet again from him playing sore with the same injury.

Unsure if this thread exists already, apology if it does.

Given Viney's foot injury re-occurrence - do we need to start bracing for the possibility that he may never get this foot right? If it happens again after this one within a year, do we need to reconsider having a captain that spends so much time on the sidelines?

Not jumping the gun or being hysterical yet, but if faced with this issue, who would replace him (aside from Jones in the short term)?

Gaff.

If it continues to be an issue in the next 12-24 months then I'd begin to be worried about it.

Until then I think he has plenty of time to overcome the issue and get it sorted.  I think with this case it sounds as though they are just being super cautious about it to ensure he get's it right.

With Brayshaw's rise, I think we actually miss Jack far less than we do, say, Lever.  Gaff will be a great addition (note my severe case of optimism) and will make our midfield almost invincible.

It's an issue already, that Jack has brought on himself in the last year. He'll have to manage it carefully for the rest of his career I'd say, but I'm no doctor. The only thing we currently can't replace is his will to win, otherwise he's replaceable.
