We are going for 9 in a row and I think we can do it with our strongest side yet with 19 senior listed players available (I assume Johnstone is available). The Dees by 35 points.

My Preferred Team

B: Petty, Pedersen, J.Smith

HB: J.Wagner, Keilty, Vince

C : C.Wagner, Tyson, Vandenberg

HF: Balic, T.Smith, Kent

F: Hannan, Weideman, Hutchins

FOLL: King, Bugg, Kennedy Harris

IC: Filipovic, McKenna, Johnstone, Lockhart, Stockdale

Lewis should slot in nicely and the slower pace might suit his game.

Cory Wagner has been looking ok...  but I cannot stop being reminded of Sylvia.

I hope he turns out a hard worker and disciplined.

As predicted.

Just so very pleased to see Aaron VB back playing. I hope you get the full four quarters this week mate! And keep up those tackles go dees !!

Wheres Johnstone? Didnt play last week either & club website doesn't have him down as being injured?

Edit: Misson report does, but website doesn't. I don't watch those videos, makes me too depressed watching Misson.

I believe he is out with some quad soreness and Balic will be out with illness (a cold). Given the Stretch & J.Smith injuries Casey will be a few men down. However being the Sunday game the carryovers from the AFL will play so it’ll still be a strong lineup especially given some decent VFL talent.

winds of 20-30kph predicted for Sunday. Hopefully it doesn't affect the game too much.

Would be good to see Balic, Baker and Petty have a solid game. Also interested in the ruck as there's a lot of improvement needed there.

PS: Just saw that Drunk'n has posted Balic out ...pity he needs a solid run

JKH is a big loss for Casey.  He is a star for them.

Plenty out this week

balic Stretch Smith-j Viney Lever Maynard Hunt

thats 7 Casey required this week

I think we can cover Balic and Hannan with Lok and Gent any more outs and we are in trouble.

I think Casey's VFL listed should be able to step up, even guys who have been in and out like Lok, Gent, Collis can all add somehting.

And especially since there's still Senior spots up for grabs the AFL Listed guys are going to want to come out and dominate so I'm still fairly certain we can feed off of today's win and get it done over Footscray. AVB is a beast, Tyson, Wagner, Kent, Bugg and McKenna can all hit another level, Keilty has been up on form and will want to push hard for a Debut, as will Baker. Petty and Pedo are playing well, as are Weids and Bull, and with the Dog's Ruck woes, Flipper and King might be able to add something.

Should be a decent hit out, excited to see AVB dominate and see if Keilty can really push his chances.

Is there any live stream (and/or is it on Casey Radio)?

Yeah mate Casey Radio are covering the game today.

Just arrived in Cranbourne, beautiful sunny day but a decent wind with a bit of chill to it.

Hoping for a big game from Kent. If in form he would be great against the cats.

Kent and Vandenberg are two wildcards for us in the run home.. both in the VFL and AFL.

Very strong breeze to the southern end. Footscray also usually play in Windy conditions but this should suite Casey very nicely.

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons have the Bye next week but then are on the road once again when they come up against the Gold Coast Suns on the Gold Coast in what could be a last ditch effort to salvage their season. Who comes in and who comes out?

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
