Hogan should be ashamed.
Jones and viney only played in the final qrt. Omac should have stopped that goal so we would have obe.
Max harmes fritz awesome.
Brayshaw tries but his dispisal was disgusting. Petty and smith not the answer.
Not surw anymore
You could drop at least 7 players but the who do we really have to put in.
We were just so slow and pushed around too easy.
This season is over. Even if we snuck in....deep down we all know we would be making up the numbers.
And lets be honest.....its a massive if.
Would like to see goodwin give them a huge spray.
As for traccas talk in the media he made it worse.
Anb is a chronic fumbler. Weid was ok but like pedo cant translate from casey to the big time.
This club hasnt changed.

Fool me once..........fool me a 1000x.

It’s Gawn’s fault. He makes us appear better than we are.

Simon “as a footy club” Goodwin has no [censored] idea. Brings in Petty and Weid when it was clear as all [censored] last week we needed zip, pressure and crumbers to clean up the garbage that is our forward entries.

Leaves that plodder Tyson in when Vince at his absolute worst can do whatever role Tyson is in 100 times better.

I watch nearly every game every week, we defend just as bad as the bottom 4. Sometimes it even looks far easier to score against us.

It’s sickening. I’m convinced I’ll never see another final.

On the plus side Saints were paying 6 bucks and I went to town.

Honestly, not playing Vince, Frost, Garlett and or Spargo is due to Goodwins cockiness thinking that we’re a club that can win games without our best 22 on the park and gift games to players who try hard instead of talent. I don’t give a [censored] if Garlett isnt doing well in the VFL. Hannan had 4 disposals and zero marks.

Out: Petty, Tyson, Hannan, Weideman

In: Frost, Stretch, Garlett, Vince

Well, they've handed us some shitsandwiches over the last few years but this one had some extra topping.

Gawn & Viney bleed for this club.

Be nice if Jack could have got a touch in the first half

Season over. If Pert comes in and shakes up the joint i won't be upset.

Even if we beat the Dockers next week (massive question marks now), we have to back up coming from Darwin in a week against a quick Doggies outfit.

This might end up a 10-12 season, after going into the bye at 8-3. Only Melbourne FMD

Conceding 18 goals to that rabble is just so pathetic. Goodwin promoting Petty was wrong as he didn't even deserve to be promoted ahead of Frost on form alone. If Goodwin comes out with it's "a game of inches" at the presser, I'll lose it. Admit you effed up at the selection table fwit.

fritch should always play in the forward line he is good mark and goal kicker. putting him in defense was an absolute waste. Viney should not have been tagging, the last quarter proved that, sad that it took so long for the penny to drop. Trac, Hogan and Tyson another poor performance. How many in a row before we do something about it.  Petty and Smith both selection choices, they really must hate Frost.  Without Max it would have been a 10 goal loss instead of 2 points. another game where we went in thinking we had it won before the ball was bounced, so no need to chase or put in. oh we will hear about the lessons learnt, etc.... when you are behind in a game why the hell do you not man up.

Spread, spread, spread, spread, spread, spread, spread. They did and we didn't.

Season dond..  This one is on you Goodwin!

Picking Petty ahead of BOG performance from Frost last week, leaving Tyson on a wing to let their runners skim past him, continue to play spuds like ANB who offers absolutely nothing.

Honestly some serious questions need to be asked of this footy club. Our backline is a shambles with no experience whatsoever after trading Lynden Dunn for a packet of chips who's now one of the top defenders of the game. Oscar is a ordinary footballer and made Fatty McCartin look like Wayne Carey today FFS!

There is no forward line structure at all. 2 weeks in a row no we continue to not select a crumbling forward! Spargo, jeffy and heck even JKH just to try and add a bit of zip and forward pressure at least! Weideman is useless, watching Josh battle in his 4th game bully our backline was shameful to see.

And finally our midfield is just way too too heavy! Having Dom Tyson on a wing all day has to be one of the most mind boggling decisions ever? Time to bring Stretch in now and leave him on a wing for the next 10 games to see what he has to offer? At least he will provide run and poise unlike Tyson.

Another year full of promise, only to be now let down by this shitful club.

Agree entirely! Bang on.

And "as a footy club" Goodwin haha really starting to dislike the man.

We panicked once the saints showed they were prepared to have a crack. Intensity only came when it was too late.

And we look very slow on the mcg

Our defense is now a complete rabble .

Only Melbourne can self implode like this just when things were starting to look up.

We have some hard ball bulls yes, but no skills or real run.

Couldnt take a Mark up forward to save ourselves for the second week in a row .

How come we never  kick to a leading player in the forward line? And where the hell was TMac today ? Did he play?

Doubly bad considering the other results this weekend. Bombers might beat the Kangas as well... would have left us a game clear, now we need to pull another win from our arse. Year not over but it's bloody close to it

Tmac played injured. Should have rested.

Nothing ever changes with its supporters.

............ because nothing ever changes for its supporters.

I won’t question Goodwin, because everytime I do, I get smashed from pillar to post. But we lost this game, like many others over the last 2 years, due to selection and match ups/set ups.

Gawn bloody good but

Supporting this team is dead set like being in an abusive relationship. You want to believe they've changed, you want to trust them, you convince yourself that the worst is behind you. Really you're just an effing idiot and deserve all the abuse that's comes your way.

Gutted and felt like spewing (truly) as the axe was falling throughout the match and we fell apart.  But the result doesn't surprise me.

Goody left us exposed at the selection table in too many facets over the last two weeks as mentioned by many on here, myself included, on numerous occasions.

He fails to get the basics right and doesn't appear capable of fixing the bleeding obvious / adjusting accordingly at selection.  Continues to make the same errors with match ups and incorrect 'run with' roles

What's worse he should have learned from previous week errors, in particular some glaringly obvious ones from last week, but didn't.

My confidence earlier in the year that we will make a finals series and turn this club / culture around under Goodwin wasn"t as strong as some on here but was happy to give him the benefit of the doubt and hope he proved me wrong.  After today i have none.

Time to watch the World Cup.  Belgium looking dangerous!

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

The media has performed a complete reversal in its coverage of the Melbourne Football Club over the past month and a half. Having endured intense criticism from all quarters in the press, which continually identified new avenues for scrutiny of every aspect, both on and off the field, and prematurely speculated about the departures of coaches, players, officials, and various employees from a club that lost its first five matches and appeared out of finals contention, the narrative has suddenly shifted to one of unbridled optimism.  The Demons have won five of their last six matches, positioning themselves just one game (and a considerable amount of percentage) outside the top eight at the halfway mark of the season. They still trail the primary contenders and remain far from assured of a finals berth.

  • REPORT: Sydney

A few weeks ago, I visited a fellow Melbourne Football Club supporter in hospital, and our conversation inevitably shifted from his health diagnosis to the well-being of our football team. Like him, Melbourne had faced challenges in recent months, but an intervention - in his case, surgery, and in the team's case, a change in game style - had brought about much improvement.  The team's professionals had altered its game style from a pedestrian and slow-moving approach, which yielded an average of merely 60 points for five winless games, to a faster and more direct style. This shift led to three consecutive wins and a strong competitive effort in the fourth game, albeit with a tired finish against Hawthorn, a strong premiership contender.  As we discussed our team's recent health improvement, I shared my observations on the changes within the team, including the refreshed style, the introduction of new young talent, such as rising stars Caleb Windsor, Harvey Langford, and Xavier Lindsay, and the rebranding of Kozzy Pickett from a small forward to a midfield machine who can still get among the goals. I also highlighted the dominance of captain Max Gawn in the ruck and the resurgence in form in a big way of midfield superstars Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver.

The Demons controlled the contest from the outset, though inaccurate kicking kept the Swans in the game until half time. But after the break, Melbourne put on the jets and blew Sydney away and the demolition job was complete.
