Despite that, my conclusion is that the risk of Hannerbery being permanently crippled and never returning to anywhere near his best is far too great for the gamble - although, despite again my very reasonable MFCCS in this regard, I trust that our recruiters are across the issue in this instance and not just seeing stars (Sydney, however, being so readily willing to dump is a concern).

Hopefully, his recent form-slump is just a matter of of the supposed in-principal agreement and best-case Hannerbery  preserving his body for our charge to the flag! Mega-TL:DR (apologies) - maybe, but I'm an optimist and really have no idea.

Excellent summary, thanks for sharing. The above is the key, isn't it.

[censored] man, that's some serious speed-reading. If the AFL were a book, you'd be perfect for us on a right-side page.

I apologise for my ignorance, but I don't understand the above. It's not you, it's me.

It's actually me. In publishing and readership data, the left-hand page is skipped over a lot faster than than the right (more complexly so, after a certain number or combination of pages). Hence both a completely incorrect and highly obscure and abstract reference to your speed-reading as a metaphorical suggestion of benefit to a lacking right-side book-page impact/football wing in the AFL. If it helps to explain my general air of confusion,  I achieved under-graduate accreditation up around your way in Lismore.

I'm your prototypical left page skipper? (Or maybe I just read both pages quickly?) In any case the AFL could benefit? My continued lack of understanding could be explained to my reasonable proximity to the Lismore CBD.

In any case, what a delightfully obscure discussion for a Friday morning! That is very interesting about page skipping. I would like to learn more. How can I subscribe to your e-zine?

I think it best we both just agree to 'Lismore'. On an another note, the actual Lismore prevented me from seeing the drawn 2010 AFL grand final until the final five minutes - which were admittedly pretty exciting after a three-hour [censored]-around. On an another another note, the town also saved me from viewing 186 until after the fact. Go Lizzie! My e-zine is by paid subscription only. P.s.: it's still Thursday night where I am at the present.

I appreciate he’s coming off no pre season with groin issues but his recent form and in particular his stats tonight indicate as I suggested a player now in decline. I seriously hope I’m wrong but my mail is that Dees have tabled an extremely generous 4 year offer which only requires the Dees to come up with the Pick that satisfies the Swans for this to happen. Swans are desperate for the Salary Cap relief plus need 1st Round Picks for Darcy Moore & McGovern.

Didn’t we have a crack at him 2 years ago but he turned us down?

For me Hannebery is a big yes quick and loves the tough stuff

Hannebery’s is banged up, not the player he was.  Groin issues have caused him to lose his explosive.

Hannebury is slow.

Would still like us to have a crack at Wallis from WB. Think he might be gettable

Slow inside mid no thanks. Outside wing\half backs and crumbers with pace thanks.

He looks cooked right now. Fox reported he will miss close to a month with a strained calf.

Bloody hell. No thanks MFC!

Hanners is cooked. He’s a shadow of the player he was and has struggled for coming up on two years now. His body is letting him down and he’s never been a good kick as it is. Big pass.

Ollie Florent looks a gun and the perfect target for us. But again, we have no currency to trade so will have to give up a quality player (eg. Brayshaw, Petracca, Oliver etc) to get him. Risky thing to entertain and he’s less proven at this stage.

Matthew Lloyd’s analysis of us in the Hun today is pretty spot on, says our midfield is loaded with talented ball hunters who all go in leaving the opposition on the outside. If we don’t dominate inside possessions we get smashed on the outside and from there the backline struggles. He points the finger at Goodwin’s strategy of emphasis on the contested ball to the detriment of outside run and delivery; says we need to get back to some basics with Hogan and TMac staying forward all game and giving Frost a few games to see if he is the answer down back until we get Lever back.

Very true, and thankfully very easy to fix.

Selection this week addresses that problem actually.

Skuit, you gained my respect by your efforts and investigation skills, so what are your thoughts on 4 years for DanHan and having to give a Pick circa 12 - 18?  And the coin is serious.

I suspect Sydney wouldn't release him unless he was shot.

If we managed to come up with pick 12-18 somehow, I'd rather use it in the draft or on someone else.

By Round 24, Hannebury may demonstrate his value as more around 58 (if he can actually get back on the park).

Would be keen to hear from someone with groin/calf insight - @Webber

With the greatest of respect to you and Matthew Lloyd, WattsJurrahDunn and I have been posting this for two years. The media are now only writing about this as well as now discovering what a terrible decision to give Picks 2 & 20 for Tyson, 9 and 57. I heard Terry Wallace rubbishing that deal on SEN yesterday. Well, hello Terry.

If you're saying it's a rubbish deal because of Josh Kelly then remember that Roos said we would have taken Jack Billings anyway.

As a side note, I hope your username is something we're all saying later on this evening.

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, we’ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.
