Dammit, love Kent and is best 22 when fit.

Best of luck at your journey with the Saints.

I think Kent is worth a pick between 30 and 40 which the Saints don't have.

Might have to form part of the Pruess trade; hence a three way deal.

Sad to see him go.

I’d say Kent is a 50+ pick

Geez if Kent and hogan are going that's pretty much a quarter of the list gone. Don't know what to make of it tbh?

Why are people mentioning Jack Billings all of a sudden?

Have i missed something?

Finals must’ve scared him off.

Was always a fan though.

Still holding onto the fact we WERE going to draft him @ pick 2 the year we traded it for Tyson & Salem.

He seems too soft for my liking....

I've had a long-running bet with my cousin that Kent would never make it. I stand by this. Nothing lost.

Because Saints dont have picks to give us, I threw it out there as a discussion point, not saying he is coming. Settle petal.

There aren’t many softer.

Mate im settled... because there's no realistic chance of Billings ever coming to the dees this trade period unless he request a trade to us, which he won't.

Melbourne send Kent to saint kilda + our third rounder to collingwood

 Saints send Lonie to Collingwood and pick 57 to Melbourne

Collingwood receive Lonie + our 3rd rounder but send LANGDON to the dees

*langdon is out of contract and it has been rumoured that he is a fair way away from signing (but i doubt he will leave after their success this year)

Langdon has killed it in games this year, played very well in the prelim TBH he is probably worth more than this deal states, yet all three players are out of contract - so anything is possible

All good, I did mention a package deal earlier, was more that the club was interested in Billings in his draft year. Would replace Bugg with goalkicking :lol:

Maybe the Saints have to send their 1st round pick 3 or 2019 1st round to Sydney for Hannebury and get a pick back they can use for Kent?

Sydney have 31 and 34 or thereabouts.

Alternatively they could offer a future 2nd for Kent but that would stop them being able to use future 1st vfor Hannebury.

I reckon this will drag on in trade week.

We now also need to search for another small forward.

Garlett is clearly on the outer, Kenty is gone we cannot just rely on Spargo.

Maybe we should go hard at Dan Butler.

i like Kent but deserves opportunity at another club. People are kidding themselves if they expect a 2nd rounder from an injury riddled fringe player. We'll probably just do whats in Kents best interests and take a late pick for him.

We have spargo, hannan, melksham and fritsch can go there too.

Disappointing cause he's best 22 when fit and has pace which we lack so much. Would rather cut a bunch of duds like JKH et al who have no AFL level abilities and keep Kent.

The problem is that he can't consistently keep himself fit, and hasn't done so for years. We are rightly offering what seems to be a one year deal, and the Saints have offered him three which gives him more security, both for his career and his family, long term.

I do like Kent though and feel he could be a best 22 player if fit, but what choice does the club have with a bloke who has struggled with injuries for 3-4 years now? A one year deal is fair at our end, but do is his choice for a longer deal elsewhere.

Good luck Kenty. Had a lot of skill, but his body keeps breaking.

Why would you request a trade to the Aints?

oh well, your choice

Is this something you know 'dazzle'?

Maybe in a swap that involved another player?

I think Billings is very talented but has been underwhelming at the Saints, it's these type of players I would be looking at if we think we can turn them around.

No less than a second round pick

You’re kidding.

I’d take any reasonable offer. He’s not quite at “free to good home” level but not far off it for mine. A third rounder is probably around the mark. Given we’re moving on quite a few this year, I’d also consider any moderate risk mids they had on their list (ie classy but injured, or hasn’t quite come on), and whatever exchange of later picks; I don’t know what they have in stock though.

I like him when he’s going: he’s tough and quick, but he’s so unreliable. He’s in the infirmary as often as he’s out of it and he is capable of being a total passenger when in the side. If the shoe was on the other foot, would you want to give away a second rounder?

No less than a second round pick

2013 = 15games

2014 = 13

2015 =4

2016 = 20

2017 = 6

2018 = 5

So averaging less than 9 games a year for the last four years... that ain't equal second round: and that's before you look at his talent.

3 year contract offered? If you are Dean Kent, you have to take it with open arms. If you are Melbourne, you would (hopefully) not be offering 3 years based on above!!

  • REPORT: Collingwood

    The media focus on the fiery interaction between Max Gawn and Steven May at the end of the game was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

    Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.
