I'm just happy the club cancelled our proposed camp...no good can come of these things.

By no means are the mob who ran the Adelaide camp, running the Melbourne camp...and all camps/workshops/seminars/bonding sessions - whatever language we want to use ... are all about vulnerability, relationship building and insight to the self. Sometimes the coordinators of these camps...don't necessarily have the training in welfare when things go awray, or honouring peoples needs NOT to be involved when They as an individual feel too vulnerable... because it all of a sudden becomes about the coordinators plans, not what is good for the individual.

So, great things CAN and DO and HAVE come of them... and sometimes [censored] things occur due to mismanagement.

If it's anything like what I've heard of similar camps, it's probably to do with them cutting off access to family members and spouses. All of the murmurs from inner sanctums I've heard about disgruntled players appear to be centred around a complete disregard for player wellbeing, and the mental wellbeing of their loved ones (who apparently are given no indication of when or where the players are going).

I get the importance of intense training, but there is no place in the universe where football takes priority over family and well being.

McClure is a turd for even writing that piece.  Now every media outlet and footy show is going to be speculating and talking about it. Respect his Betts’ wishes to not want to speak about it.

He is actually giving Eddie an out as to why he has had a poor year so far and for the members not to blame him if he leaves.

The story has been around before about disgruntled players, now we know Eddie is one of them.

From what I've heard there is actually 2 stories:

1. A racist post on social media

2. Something to do with Crows in off season

I could be wrong of course but you've got to feel for the guy, he's copped it his whole career and it's sad.

I thought earlier in the year there was a story about him not being able to speak to his heavily pregnant wife and kids. And for him that was bad for his family it was supposedly horrendous as she was not capable of doing as much due to bein preggers n stuff.

The first five words of the article were enough for me: "SEN newsman Sam McLure says..."

After that I had no confidence in what followed. It might be true, but equally, it might not be. And given the scarcity of detail, it's just muckraking journalism gossip.

Totally agree. The guy wants to keep it private so let's write an article about it.

As much sincerity as emperor Tang.

Didn't McClure also state that Mitch McGovern wants to tear up his contract and ask for a trade?

Sounds like he's got an axe to grind with the Crows.

For that I applaud him.

If that is true that is totally abhorrent.

Leave the club.

I imagine it was horrendous indeed. No question. Would hate to leave my pregnant wife to do everything with other kids.

That’s what i heard too, but i think there is more to it...which is why this article (or discussion) which is how it would have started, has taken place.

I know nothing, except i worked in a Newsroom for many years...

Think it is more than that, as it has been described as pretty unthinkable behaviour and that the Crows have really let down some players.

This will be catalyst for the AFLPA to push for NFL type offseason work out schedules. Only x amount of training sessions per offseason, only x amount of contact sessions etc.

Ps I mean the whole camp scenario will lead to changes in player welfare etc not 1 individuals experience.

Re No 1 I was told some female half wit Freo supporter asked Eddie for a selfie after the siren on the ground which he obliged and she then posted the selfie on FB complete with racial slurs. Where do these people come from?

I think it was someone else commenting on her post from what I gather, as they said the first comment below, but I could be wrong mate. Either way it’s bloody sad

Whatever happened, you can bet won't take place next off-season.

I remember taking my dad to an MFC final and watching Davey run amok and an MFC supporter / barracker / whatever was teeing off with all sorts of vile racist stuff.  I'm only 5'7'' and not huge and turned around and called him out on it to which he responded with threats of violence

charming

Social media has ruined the world, I actually hate it, had 2 friend in the last 3 years commit suicide over social media bullying etc.

There was a time during the current Melbourne cycle that goes back to before the premiership when the club was the toughest to beat in the fourth quarter. The Demons were not only hard to beat at any time but it was virtually impossible to get the better them when scores were close at three quarter time. It was only three or four years ago but they were fit, strong and resilient in body and mind. Sadly, those days are over. This has been the case since the club fell off its pedestal about 12 months ago after it beat Geelong and then lost to Carlton. In both instances, Melbourne put together strong, stirring final quarters, one that resulted in victory, the other, in defeat. Since then, the drop off has been dramatic to the point where it can neither pull off victory in close matches, nor can it even go down in defeat  gallantly.

  • CASEY: Footscray

At twenty-four minutes into the third term of the game between the Casey Demons and Footscray VFL at Whitten Oval, the visitors were coasting. They were winning all over the ground, had the ascendancy in the ruck battles and held a 26 point lead on a day perfect for football. What could go wrong? Everything. The Bulldogs moved into overdrive in the last five minutes of the term and booted three straight goals to reduce the margin to a highly retrievable eight points at the last break. Bouyed by that effort, their confidence was on a high level during the interval and they ran all over the despondent Demons and kicked another five goals to lead by a comfortable margin of four goals deep into the final term before Paddy Cross kicked a couple of too late goals for a despondent Casey. A testament to their lack of pressure in the latter stages of the game was the fact that Footscray’s last ten scoring shots were nine goals and one rushed behind. Things might have been different for the Demons who went into the game after last week’s bye with 12 AFL listed players. Blake Howes was held over for the AFL game but two others, Jack Billings and Taj Woewodin (not officially listed as injured) were also missing and they could have been handy at the end. Another mystery of the current VFL system.

  • PREGAME: Brisbane

The Demons head back out on the road in Round 10 when they travel to Queensland to take on the reigning Premiers and the top of the table Lions who look very formidable. Can the Dees cause a massive upset? Who comes in and who goes out?

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.
