I'm going to be completely unrealistic in this situation and hold out some hope that we get a better outcome than what's currently being bandied about.   Because it's not confirmed there is a sliver of hope that it might only be a 4-6 week thing and not a full year.  I'm sticking with that sliver of hope.

It doesn’t hurt to hope.

I hope you are right.

I am envisioning Jake as Steven Seagal in Hard to Kill. He will be “awoken” and healed by the news that we have won the qualifying final and will miraculously pass a fitness test to take his place in the Grand Final 22, dominating on game day.

Lars may be an option??

I believe the decision on lars vs full reco is to do with the how the injured joint has actually been effected

But I’m not a doctor...just such a bummer for the kid

I am a huge Lever fan. After the slow start, his last 3 weeks were excellent.

Huge loss as his defensive confidence and flexibility was a huge new asset for the Dees.

Smith or Frost to step up.

Massive loss that will hurt us against the top teams. We have no replacement for Jake. No one that can read the play and distribute the ball like he does. After the defence got settled it is so disappointing.

We will need to make some adjustments back there and carry on. Hopefully he can target round one 2019 to comeback

When will the MFC ever get the rub of the green.. get a high priced recruit & lose him only after 11 games ..

We will get the run of the green when we begin to create our own luck by overcoming adversity and continuing in a positive manner which we are starting to see..

Positivity is infectious.

[censored] me to tears how clubs like Richmond can go a whole season like last year unscathed. The only injury they had was when Rewioldt poked himself in the eye. This year looks no different for them.

I’d set them up with a left jab and then punch through them with a straight right.

So you assault people in public places? I’m not sure that makes you any better. Perhaps worse.

Lever will be a big loss, but, we can't allow that to derail our season.  I trust in our depth and we do have players that can come in and play their role for the team.  Sure, they aren't going to be as good as Lever as not many are.  But we just need to make the right changes and keep playing footy our way.

Even with him off for most of the game the Doggies didn't look like scoring, although that's also down to their impotence as much as anything.

Oath.

Heres hoping he's not next in line.

Would much rather Keilty or Smith. Even T Mac back and Weed in for the forward role.

Rubbish. Bloody good player

Only in the ring, any [censored] can throw a punch when someone isn’t expecting it. Don’t make accusations about people you don’t know.

We are a poorer team without him but I think we can cover him and still be dominant.

Max gawn, Jesse Hogan, Clayton, tom mac. Not so much.

So was the injury due to the crap Etihad ground surface do we think? Just wondering.....not much was said. There was raft of injuries there a few years back.

You never know. Sometimes teams lose their superstar backs to non-contact ACLs and go on and win premierships.

Maybe we can offer the Philly Eagles next year's first rounder for Nick Foles, @Macca @Gorgoroth?

Gutted for Jake, was just finding some great form too. Hopefully it isn't a full ACL tear.

As for his replacement, Frost is probably the most likely given his similar role and AFL experience. But we'll have to see how the 3 talls, Frost, Keilty and Petty, play tomorrow to see who is really putting their hand up.

Optimistically, if Keilty has a big game tomorrow, it would be a dream come true to see him debut in a big game like the Queen's birthday, to see if he has what it takes to play at Senior level. Over the last 4 weeks I would say Keilty is probably the most in-form in the VFL of the defenders, but it's a pretty close run.

I am about 80% sure Frost will get the gig, but damn It'd be great to see Dec get a run at it.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
