@Whispering_Jack and @Redleg can shed a bit of light on that.

Yes. WJ and I managed the Dominator and tried to get him to the Dees. He had already been rejected by Carlton twice and was a Prahran player. WJ thought he could make it and I went and spoke to him and we became his managers, long before Football Management took off. It is a long story but to make it short, the Blues wanted Tom Flower for Wayne and of course the Dees said no. Through some luck he fell into a senior practice match, filling in for an injured player and kicked a few goals quickly on Jezza, the Blues Captain Coach. That was it and he later became a champion .

Anyone hear neitz talking with robbo and Anthony hudson, they brought up the line McCabe hit neitz said after the disappointment of 2001 he thought about making a statement as captain all summer and the moons aligned round 1 against the hawks when he cleaned up McCabe and kicked the goal, was a big hit and great moment

Finally understood why Sheedy hates us, he had his reasons. Had a sliding doors moment imagining Wayne Johnston playing for us, alt history... some enjoyable stories.

I would love it if David Neitz gets inducted to The Hall of Fame tonight. It's a disgrace that Laurie Mithen & Bluey Adams are not yet in the Hall of Fame, Garry Lyon deserves to be in as well.

Starts tonight 7:30 on Foxtel

Add Don Williams to that list that should be in the Hall of Fame.

Well done to David Neitz, on a very well deserved honour.

For me, Garry Lyon should have been inducted before Neitz. I think Lyon's leadership and his record in big games was superior to Neitz, but obviously his achievements are clouded by the injuries over the last 4-5 years of his career. Prior to that he was as good as any player in the league.

I agree with the opening poster that our golden era is severely under-represented in the Hall of Fame, particularly in comparison to Hawthorn's team of the 1980s. Hopefully with the current team on the rise, that oversight is rectified over the next few years.

    TRAINING: Wednesday 5th December 2024

A couple of intrepid Demonland Trackwatchers headed down to Gosch's Paddock for the midweek Preseason Training Session to bring you the following observations. Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
