what do you even mean? tell him he's going to be delisted before his exit meeting?? then its just gonna be a shock to the system two weeks earlier when they're still in season? this literally makes sense. the whole point of the exit meeting is to discuss what their future is and recap their season. no better time to drop the news

In most workplaces, the exit meeting comes AFTER an employee has been given their notice.

Saints will have to play the long game now and pick him up in a salary dump in 2 years time.

Honestly not a silly suggestion at all. I really can't see him seeing out the 5 years.

And as JDG alights his Qantas flight direct to Las Vegas, we bid farewell to his illustrious presence on our Trade & Draft Board and look forward to a resumption of normal service from the Magpie favourite.

Interesting that again expediency  triumphed over morals and doing better.

we can but hope

The great news is we can all go back to affirming that Jordan De Goey is a #$%& without having to worry that next year we'll be celebrating his goals.

I hear on good authority that he has checked in for a flight to Bali again in the last few days ... this could get ugly sooner than expected

I'd like to see TISM, but I'm too old for festivals.

I used to play in an 80s cover band. Our drummer was a mate of one of the members of TISM (Sean Kelly, same name as the Models guy, but a different person). He got us a gig once.

He wasn't the Ron Hitler-Barassi member of TISM ...

I too was a bit reticent about going to the Good Things festival given I am middle aged now (I do go to gigs occasionally but haven't been to a festival for a very long time). I finally decided to get a ticket after they released new tickets and then 2 days later they had the first of their 'secret gigs' (D'oh). Did anyone catch the Croxton, Prince of Wales or 170 Russell gigs?

Looking forward to seeing them live next Friday arvo ... its been a while 😆

was sick for the croxton, couldn't get to the prince, but the billboard show was great fun

make sure you see deftones for me!

I trust that none of the singers were reticent.  :D

Should be a decent festival, I'd like to get there myself but it's a bit of moolah.

Saw this thread bob up again so assumed JDG was up to his old antics. I'll be surprised if he avoids any assault or harassment incidents before next season starts.

$200 is a bit steep to catch TISM live again after two decades but I wasn't sure if they would do any side gigs so when extra tickets were announced,  went for it and told my better half that it can be my Christmas gift 😁 Regurgitator and the Cosmic Psychos in the lineup helped sway it in my mind 😎

78% of an incident by JDG before Round 1 I say 😁

Would be good if they could 'announce' another secret show.

Good Things should be well worth it though, have a blast!

How did you find out about the "secret shows"? I walk past The Croc on my way to work, and always check to see who's playing. I was so [censored] off when I saw YouTube clips of their gig. Personally, I'd rather see them at a smaller venue than at a festival, but being able to see The Cosmic Psychos as well will make it worth while.

I'm jealous that you're going to see Nick Cave. Does it include all the Bad Seeds, or just Nick and Warren Ellis?

i'm a mod of a facebook group that 'remembers' the 90s oztrayan music scene - it went out and about across there in the lead-up to the shows, and people in the know found out pretty quick

it's nick cave, warren ellis, colin greenwood from radiohead on bass, larry mullins from swans / iggy pop's band on drums, and three besides on beevee's - apparently the shows have been crazy good

I found out about the "secret" TISM shows via some TISM fan pages on FB. The info was with short notice and I have a toddler in the home so I wasn't able to duck out to see them on short notice but am really looking forward to catching them tomorrow as well as Regurgitator (missed their gig in Moorabbin earlier this year) and the Cosmic Psychos (who I have caught live a few times recently, they are always great value) 🤘🍺😎

So bloody jealous right now WWSW, big downside to my job, even when I’m home is too last minute to snag TKTS, although I was able to brag my way into the Prince one night many years ago as dirty humanitarian on shore leave.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

Hands up if you thought, like me, at half-time in yesterday’s game at TIO Traeger Park, Alice Springs that Melbourne’s disposal around the ground and, in particular, its kicking inaccuracy in front of the goals couldn’t get any worse. Well, it did. And what’s even more damning for the Melbourne Football Club is that the game against St Kilda and its resurgence from the bottomless pit of its miserable start to the season wasn’t just lost through poor conversion for goal but rather in the 15 minutes when the entire team went into a slumber and was mugged by the out-of-form Saints. Their six goals two behinds (one goal less than the Demons managed for the whole game) weaved a path of destruction from which they were unable to recover. Ross Lyon’s astute use of pressure to contain the situation once they had asserted their grip on the game, and Melbourne’s self-destructive wastefulness, assured that outcome. The old adage about the insanity of repeatedly doing something and expecting a different result, was out there. Two years ago, the score line in Melbourne’s loss to the Giants at this same ground was 5 goals 15 behinds - a ratio of one goal per four scoring shots - was perfectly replicated with yesterday’s 7 goals 21 behinds.
This has been going on for a while and opens up a number of questions. I’ll put forward a few that come to mind from this performance. The obvious first question is whether the club can find a suitable coach to instruct players on proper kicking techniques or is this a skill that can no longer be developed at this stage of the development of our playing group? Another concern is the team's ability to counter an opponent's dominance during a run on as exemplified by the Saints in the first quarter. Did the Demons underestimate their opponents, considering St Kilda's goals during this period were scored by relatively unknown forwards? Furthermore, given the modest attendance of 6,721 at TIO Traeger Park and the team's poor past performances at this venue, is it prudent to prioritize financial gain over potentially sacrificing valuable premiership points by relinquishing home ground advantage, notwithstanding the cultural significance of the team's connection to the Red Centre?
