Don’t you love sport!… where you can be a complete [censored] of society and people still celebrate you!

If Collingwood had balls and were strong, you [censored] off DeGoey and keep Grundy!

This is Collingwood we’re talking about. The club which does this type of thing…

This is how they treat the sons of a Legend of the Club. Fair enough, delist them if you must, but at least afford them the dignity of a heads up.

And once again Collingwood have hitched their wagon to the De Goey post. Enjoy another half season of him on the park and occasional big game performance.

I really hope the Collingwood supporters look at this as letting go of Grundy for De Goey.

Then Brodie can become a multiple premiership player at Melbourne, and Jordy will do something dumb in February and waste their cash.

what makes you think he can last that long?

Wonder which Court in New York stipulated condition of release for De Goey and how long he was to adhere to the condition.

Would have been at least 12 months..criminal court?

I don't know about Collingwood. They're sort of 'all duck no dinner' if that makes sense.

what do you even mean? tell him he's going to be delisted before his exit meeting?? then its just gonna be a shock to the system two weeks earlier when they're still in season? this literally makes sense. the whole point of the exit meeting is to discuss what their future is and recap their season. no better time to drop the news

I didn't read the article but I kind of assumed the worst that he wasn't even told that he was going to be de-listed and found out in the papers or something. That is much, much worse!

You can’t tell me players aren’t given some sort of idea beforehand, in particular when they’re to be jettisoned. From an outsider’s pov (which we all are) this is how it goes (bolded, above) but as is the case with everything to do with footy, a lot happens about which we know nothing. The very fact that Callum was shocked to find he’s been delisted says it all, imo.
I’m no psychologist but I think in this day and age in these situations young players are handled with kid gloves.

Of course that’d be infinitely worse. But not having even an inkling of what’s about to befall these boys is pretty harsh.

It's not pleasant and I'd hope that they treated him and his brother with the utmost respect. I guess a lot of clubs do things differently, some get an inkling a few weeks out that they won't be offered a new deal and some by the look of it get the news all in one hit.

I agree if that is the case WCW. But I just find it hard to believe that a player would be broadsided in an exit meeting. As in any workplace, players would have goals and KPI’s to be achieved during the year. A player should know if they are not shaping up.

This is true, NC. Either they weren’t regularly updated as to their performance and therefore this has come as a shock. Or they were regularly updated but didn’t/couldn’t see the signs of what was to come. These are boys in their early 20s. The club psychologist or well-being officer or whomever is tasked with looking after players’ mental health should have known and would have the wherewithal to make this outcome not as hard hitting as it clearly is.

The “ brothers “ are absolutely filthy on their delisting & how it was handled

Where he is concerned DC nothing would surprise me.

And who can blame them?! Disgraceful treatment of a couple of young guys.

Saints going hard with 3.2m contract

Still hasn't signed with the Pies yet

His manager would be hoping De Goey can keep his powder dry until he signs the new contract. so to speak

Officially re-signed at the Filfth - a match made in a dumpster if ever there was one!

De Goey has taken the Pies to the cleaners.

5 year contract instead of 4.

Saints will have to play the long game now and pick him up in a salary dump in 2 years time.
