I worry that we're moving him around too much. Would like to see him given time to settle in a position a little. Given that, he's still had an excellent debut season.

Serious player. Moves well. Great skills. Plays tall. Good get 

Jury was out for me early in the season when a lot on here were excited.  I think the jury has nearly reached a verdict.

The kid can seriously play.

I get what you're saying but I think his ability to be able to be moved around depending on which way the wind is blowing is one of his greatest assets.

Really?

From his first kick in AFLX (a beautiful pass across his body to a forward) it was clear he was something special.

Casey watchers probably knew well before then too.

There are real similarities appearing between that early Green and the Fritsch.

He must be developing a diverse range of skills by being moved 'around' as he is no 'dumbum' onfield, in his adaptation and intent. In a static positional shift to look after, I'd reckon that the opposing coaches would be rather easily able to work out his skillset, placing a negating influence on that role in short time. He would also be more likely to get hammered frequently. Nope, I like his diversity and his capacity to elicit varied skills from within his developing repertoire of craftsman-like attributes. Go, Fritschy!

nah, he's not like a young green, apart from the fact he's a lefty and slightly built

Versatility is a strong theme across the team with Goody. Being able to swing players around e.g. Hogan. Clarry. Pedo. TMAC. 

It's a credit to the kid the way he's adapted to this versatility.

I won't lie, I was one of those people. Desperate to get excited about a possible wildcard as a medium sized forward. He's exceeded even those expectations, well done mate! Keep doing what you're doing!

Green was a very good player, indeed. At present, terrific as he is proving to be, Fritsch is just a little behind Green for possessions, contested possessions, kicking excellence, passing off/handball, run and carry, evasive possessions and eyes up delivery. Green somehow held most of his marks against the big boys, as well.

The day he played full forward (against the Saints I think?) was very Brad Green. Otherwise modern footy has changed so much that especially the way Melbourne deliver inside 50 he's far better up the ground using the ball than up forward where his forward pressure needs some work and where the play is often scrappy.

I don't like him being tasked as the spare defender. That's a huge job for a young guy.

Otherwise moving him to the wing was a very smart move earlier in the year. And now I think over the last month he's just tiring a bit so they've rotated him through the forward line to not over tax him. A bit of half back on a man filling in is good too.

They might make a daring move and send him to half back this week, otherwise I'd expect wing/forward to continue. 

I'd like to see him lock down a position - most likely wing - for the next year or so. Staying in one spot lets you iron out inconsistencies. But long term I certainly see him as a utility. Too good in the air and classy to just run a wing long term.

I'm not a huge brad green fan msf.

He was a good player, but not as good as he should have been, and not as good as many believe.

Similarly, most of the 'champs' of his time as leader.  He was the wrong leader, as well.

But I do see similarities to a young 'robbie'.     Pre Barassi.

The other sides of the coins are,

* he is not copping a run with minder, while he moves about. escaping negating tactics.

* his moving around keeps him free to follow his natural instincts

* he's helping us fill gaps that aids us all,,, as we move towards a finals appearance

 

Next season, maybe he might find a more regular position.
