Richmond getting their premiership bonus - an extra 10-20% leeway in free kicks.  Get away with stuff, and get given lollies.

What u on the free kick count is 18 to Richmond 29 to north,

Your guns??? They got wolliped by the bottom side. If we can tag dangerfield out of the game then I’m predicting we win by 10 goals.

The sheer entertainment of playing the bogey-man, Bernie Vince, on Dangerfield as a tagger, once again, is very hard to dismiss or ignore. A 'weekend with Bernie' has a wonderful ring to it and in practical terms, is effective, par excellence. Bernie is fit and just a fraction slower these days or so the training reports indicate. So why not? He seems to have got into Dangerfield's head leaving a lasting impression. Viney might be effective with that, too.

That statistic is not often a valid measure. It is where and when the umpires award free kicks that is important - and ends up winning games. Umpires are very good these days at 'evening-up the game' or so it seems, yet in reality, it is a direct measure to affect the outcomes of a game. This happened to Melbourne for many years to their detriment. Melbourne, despite some excellent football, both attacking and defensive, were actually penalised by 'timely' free kicks awarded against them as they were not expected to win the game. So many opposition frees were given in front of their goal and scoring opportunities interrupted by poor/weak umpiring decisions so that a 'bottom' team did not annihilate a 'more popular' or 'heading to the top' team.

When, and Where frees are awarded - and the 'non-dangerous' compensatory frees awarded 'outside a team's scoring zone' have been a classic AFL trick for years.

Call made during the game, not after it was all done and dusted.  Several occasions the Tiggers got away with stuff, or got given softies, when it was there to be played for.  Is Dusty ever going to get pinged for a dont argue?

early on, it was blatant.  Later, the Roos looked like they got the pity vote.  I just called it as I saw it.

what was I on?  I think the couch.

North have been absolute garbage this JLT. So far from competitive and and have a very uninspiring list. I expect them to lose to GC in round 1.

Heaven help us if we lose to them in round 3.

I would like to think that is an understatement.

Funnily enough I have an old fashioned view on this.

It's more important they get the decisions right rather than when, where or what the numbers are...

Fully agree that is the main point to observe. Therefore, by deduction, it can be seen that for some reason, the umpires get it wrong so often for costly outcomes for innocent, attempting-to-conform-with-the-rules teams striving to play well.

So back in December 2016, I produced an early version of the 2017 AFL Phantom Draft.

My first two picks were -

1. Charlie Spargo (Murray Bushrangers) GWS Academy

2. Darcy Fogarty (Glenelg SA)

Both fell out of favour a little in 2017 (Spargo due to injury and Fogarty due to a slight loss of form) and missed out of top 10 selection.

Both are going to be top footballers. Spargo played well today for Casey while Fogarty has kicked three goals to half time in today’s JLT game v Port.

Watched most of the pies and dogs. It looked like the 2 bottom sides playing pathetic footy. Lucky a praccy game. Dogs looked like they lost their ability to handball.

I believe his best for us was four, which he only did a few times over his career in red and blue.
