The Fillopovic reason is truly bizarre.. rest him for 2 works of not playing on the assumption that hes on a low base? Yet hes had a full pre season??

Brilliant.  We have to beat the Saints this week.. we can then get on a huge roll with gun players coming back and hopefully at or close to full strength.

11 players mentioned as injured (weeks)  provided Petracca is back and Hogan is okay.

Of the 11, really only Viney and Salem out of our best 22.  Hoping they are only 2 weeks away and we can setup for a big run of wins.

Morris has no credits in the back at all.

Play him in the seniors he's too important to play in the VFL.

Don't know where he says he unequivocally does NOT want to play VFL, but I am sure that is the case and fair enough.

Will probably still play VFL i reckon

Obviously very good news to hear he isn't far off.  But i caution anyone who thinks he will return as the Viney we all know launching us even further ahead on ladder etc, at least in his first 3 to 5 matches.

Most players usually have an average return to the game (vs their usual standards) when coming off a very interrupted pre-season (or none at all) and tend to have some up and down results during the remainder of their season.  After such a long lay off i can't see this being any different for Jack (albeit his main game is a rung above most, so lessor results should still be pretty damn good).

Will be a great day when he finally runs out!  Then there's the effect on team moral.  Now that might have a substantial impact even if Jack is having some ups and downs so you might get the outcome you are hoping for Petracc!

We now have 11 players on the injured list, the Saints have 4.

In and of itself that doesn't mean much.

Fair enough.

We currently have 5 top 22 players on the injury list while the Saints have 2.

Too bad theres no training thread this week, would love to know how JV is looking.  Cant wait to see him back out there cracking opposition skulls and tearing games apart.

Tom Morris is a handy golfer. He won three British Opens and his son won at least one  as well. Sporting family !!!!!

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, we’ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.

  • PREVIEW: Western Bulldogs

Long ago and far away, the Melbourne Football Club replaced its coach in difficult circumstances after the team suffered a devastating loss. In the aftermath, I penned the following words: “Then came the politics, the intrigue, the axing, the sound of the football world laughing at a club, the circling of the media vultures, the reinvention of history, the anger, the irony, the pathos, the hurt on the face of the president, the dignified departure of the coach, and the determination of the newly appointed caretaker.” Today, we’re back in the same place although one difference here is that the coach who was terminated this time is Simon Goodwin, the man who four years ago

  • REPORT: West Coast

The Charles Dickens novel, A Tale of Two Cities, opens with, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, …”  This phrase highlights many of the significant challenges that humanity encounters in life, ranging from experiencing remarkable highs to living in times of despair. This is a concept that should resonate with all supporters of the Melbourne Football Club this morning as they reflect on its comprehensive 83-point victory over the struggling West Coast Eagles at Marvel Stadium. The outcome proved beyond doubt that they are the worst of clubs and that we are the best of the worst.
