Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Injury List - Season 2018

Chelly

Recommended Posts

I truly wish they would do the list chronologically by soonest to return. It’s so much more readable that way:

Melbourne injury list: round eight

Jack Viney (foot) – test

Christian Salem (thumb) – test

Harley Balic (platar fascia) – test

Mitch King (elbow) – 2-3 weeks

Dean Kent (hamstring) – 4 weeks

Aaron vandenBerg (ankle) – 6-8 weeks

Corey Maynard (hip) – indefinite

Pat McKenna (hamstring) – indefinite

Must have been a decent ping of the hammy, he did it weeks ago.

Shame as he looked very good when he came back into the team.

Filipovic’s R & R break must be over.

Good to see Harley Balic close to a return.

Didn't they say last week Filipovic would be out for 2 weeks?

They said Balic was out for 2 as well but it looks like he's back for this week.

Sage advice from Max to JV:   http://www.afl.com.au/news/2018-05-09/gawns-viney-warning-dont-rush-back-to-afl

"But if I could give advice to Jack – I definitely regret not getting a couple of games in the VFL before I came into the AFL."

If ever there was a time for a player to get match fitness at a VFL game (or two) this is it as the next next game(s) are vs GCS (and Carlton) which are very winnable without Jack.

On the other hand his time could be managed in both those games and he play just 65% for example.

An interesting team release tomorrow night.  Wouldn't be surprised if Jack plays at Casey this week.

I tend to agree.

As keen as I am to see Jack back in the team, we should learn the lessons of recent history.  Last year, Max was straight back in and seemed to be playing catch-up for the rest of the season; Viney was straight back in and... well, I don't need to say what happened after that.

The season is long and this week is very winable without many changes.  One week in the VFL to regain some match fitness and touch, then into the team for Carlton at the 'G.

Agree TPF39.  Also, it's easier to manage on-field minutes (to say 65% game time) at VFL level, than it is to do the same in AFL without compromising team results.

Filipovic missed a game and then missed another week for the bye. That's 2 weeks.

From that article Salem is a lock to be selected. ANB seem the obvious out i would have thought. But you never no.

For the umpteenth time goody is quoted as saying they have preapared Viney for AFL footy. Which im really pleased to hear. I was worried they were preparing him for curling.

Good that seems the smart move.

My head says play him with controlled minutes in the VFL to make sure he’s cherry ripe for his return.

My heart says geez it would be nice to see him rip up Gold Coast...... let’s hope we smash them without him.

Yes but badly!

Maybe the Morris' were the only two to compete in the championships for the first 30 or so years!

Kent is probably the only best 22 player missing but we can cover a small forward with about 8/9 players

Mckenna and Vandenburg must be really struggling and careers probably doubtful

King is 50/50 type and needs a good run of luck

I like Maynard’s style and would like to see him back as a tough competitor

5 missing is about as short a list of injuries as we have got in about 20 years!! Fingers crossed it remains low

I think Goodwin would really rate him because he's tough and Goody loves players with a bit of mongrel probably why Spargo is ahead of Garlett. If he ever gets fully fit I can see him on a forward flank in the seniors.

Melbourne injury list: round nine

Dean Kent (hamstring) – 4 weeks

Corey Maynard (hip) – indefinite
Pat McKenna (hamstring) – indefinite
Aaron vandenBerg (ankle) – 6 weeks
Jack Viney (foot) – available

That makes five players out injured, of who two have yet to play at AFL level. One has played just 2 AFL games. Aaron vandenBerg hasn’t played since 2016 which leaves Dean Kent as the only other “out”. That’s about as light an injury list as I can recall and we certainly couldn’t use that for an excuse for any drop in team performance. The team we pick tomorrow should be just about the best we can produce from our list.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
