Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

If stupidity was an Olympic sport, there are a number of employees of the MFC that would be strong favourites to bring home the gold medal in their respective weight divisions.

Not only do we allow Jack Viney to destroy his foot by playing him early against all prevailing medical wisdom, we allow Tom McDonald to do the same thing six months later. At least Viney's problems stem from regular season matches - the club was stupid enough to let McDonald play a shitty exhibition game two months out from the season.

Given the countless half truths and outright lies spoken by everyone from the coach down since Viney's initial injury, I can only assume that we will spend the next 23 weeks enduring the same regarding McDonald's problem. Time for the club to man up and admit to their errors of judgement and give honest timelines for the returns of both Jack and Tom.

PS. Vandenberg - indefinite, McKenna - indefinite. So glad my membership dollars are paying for these two to not play football for the club.

They'd have to beat some Demonland posters first.

What you indicate, largely, is the general sentiment and well done for expressing that problem. The injury malaise is one that haunts the MFC. We hope all of our war-weary recover successfully and in future, there is more open honesty from the Club messengers.

My questions for Mr Misson are:

If Tom McDonald is feeling so much better now after 10 days off legs then why wasn't he given 10 days off legs when he first felt sore 8 weeks ago?

AND

Why did he play in the AFLX shambles at on the Etihad car park if there was knowledge that he had any sort of niggle that could be exacerbated by a firm surface?

Misson: Hi DeeSp.  Thanks for the question.

The original injury normally takes 4 weeks to get right. in this case it hasn't responded as expected, but there is no crystal ball with injuries, just after the fact hindsight.

Tom played practice match to see how he managed with the injury but unfortunately for Tom the injury flared up.

We train our players to be fit to go, And sometimes injuries do not respond as expected. Which in this case is what has happened.

Tom has done a lot of running to get his fitness levels up, and this injury has not responded as hoped.

So now we have to back him right down, to allow time to heal this injury, He will maintain fitness inside on Alter G and swimming & will recommence outside running as expected in 2 weeks time.

I hope this answers your question Re Toms injury management.

MFCSS alive and well for 2018.

I hate seeing injuries to key players as much as anyone else but our challenge now is to get on with the task of putting 22 players on the field and getting the job done.

These things have a habit of getting better out of the understudies.

I like it. Because the hopes of the players are high.  Some will take more of the bit between their teeth ?

Lets all sit back and enjoy.

no mention anywhere of gus

just presume he will be ok for sunday?

He's off with the fairies daisy.

He put his teeth in a jar bedside the bed, and in the morning they were still there, but Gus was gone ?

It's hoped he returns to planet earth soon, so we can select him for a team.

Injuries to key players are NEVER ever wanted.

However when they are unavoidable, they create opportunities for others. Look at Hogan last year whose savagely poor luck, uncovered T Mac as a star forward!

We have the chance to pick 22 players the same as our opposition. The mix will now have changed, but the objective remains the same.

Who will grasp their opportunity in 2018? Hopefully ANB or Bayley or Pedo or someone else. It is there for the taking.

I here they plan on putting it towards the EOSTrip.

But he's gotta get back for the land of the sugar plum, & bring the money with him first. ^_^

Looks like the 'deload' phase for Viney and Tom Mc will end soon as they are both expected to start running next Monday.  Estimate is still 6-8 weeks away.

Everyone came thru round 1 ok so all are available for selection vs Brisbane.

Melbourne injury list: round two

  • Pat McKenna (hamstring) – indefinite
  • Tom McDonald (foot) – 6-8 weeks
  • Aaron vandenBerg (ankle) – indefinite
  • Bernie Vince (webbing) – available
  • Jack Viney (foot) – 6-8 weeks

With the Chinese space station due to crash onto the planet later today, let’s hope this doesn’t add to our injury list.

It’s true that the odds of being hit are 3 trillion to one but after what this club’s been through over the past dozen years, we need to take precautions.

Great to see the injury list numbers coming down, but still hurts to have two of our best six out.

Clarry, Max, Hoges, Trac are the others in my top 6. Hibberd, Jones & Jetta on the edge, even though Jetta is out of form!

All things considered our injury list isn't too bad (touch wood). The issue  that two of the injured players are walk up starts and one of them is our co-captain. They are also not simple injuries but once that need care and management which just makes it all the more frustrating.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
