Im so annoyed, just saw the finals fixture and we would have been playing on the saturday night. I just wanted a crack at port.

Dont go on twiiter. We are the laughing stock and some moron has decided to start this put out your cheese platter picture for sympathy for us.

Can we bring on the ashes now?

What are you doing still following Lyndon Dunns twitter account?

Positives to be taken out of this.

  1. I'll be removing the sports package on Foxtel tomorrow so that'll save me some money.
  2. We just moved two places up the draft order
  3. I truely believe that the faster a team moves up the ladder (Port 2013/14, Bulldogs last year) the quicker they drop back down. Am happy to steadily improve as we seem to be.

Sorry, that's all I got.

Finishing further down ladder will potentially mean a more favourable draw next year...assuming the AFL don't go and change the fixturing system...just our luck

every team has injuries and issues, our place in the finals rested on our last game against collingwood. They were missing a large number of players we were missing 1. simple as that. they came to play, we, just turned up and acted like witches hats for them for a quarter. The whole side played and watched that and did absolutely nothing to stop it. It was only after the quarter time talk from the coach that we turned it around. These guys need to think for themselves and should have a better understanding so as to see what is happening and modify their behavior accordingly, i.e. tackle, chase, kick to your team not the opposition, etc...

Our defence is very limited. Average size, kicking, pretty average marking, Hibberd stands out as a star. Our defence is so limited we have to put back aging midfielders to make up the numbers.

Hibberd and Jetta, if you don't mind.

What we dished up on that Friday night against Sydney was awful. I know there were health factors, but being pantsed like that for such a big game was right there with yesterday as low light of the season

The first drought we wipe off next season is North. I hope we have them very early and make a statement by hammering those gimps by 15 goals. Then onwards to finals.

Fark it's a long time to wait though.

Ffs the sense of entitlement on here is sickening; expecting apologies, ruthleness, compensation because as a supporter things didnt go your way. Note nor did it for over half the comps teams. Be dissapointed, be sad, but be realistic; injuries, a bad umpiring decision, an inexperienced decision, an unlucky bounce, fixturing inexuities, flu, any little innocuous moment was the one little thing that contributed to the very minor petcentage difference and consquent happiness of finals. If just one of theses things went a little more in our favour then all this teeth gnashing and wrist slashing wouldn't exist (well at least not for this week, some people would still go down this path even if it was after a gallant but failed effort in the last week of September.

I don't like when people act like sneaking into the 8 will actually hurt our hopes. Sneaking into the 8 IS the hope

Goodwin will probably not win a premiership with MFC, He has no idea how to motivate a team to perform against opposition it SHOULD put to the sword. So far he has been a huge mistake.

Give me Northey or Danners any day of the week.

So how do you account for the first quarter performances against Port and St Kilda, the win over the Bulldogs, beating Adelaide and West Coast away...?

Or is that the players?

Honestly the way a lot of people are going on you'd  think that we won the spoon,  it's not all that  bad, and it's not all jack watts's  fault, he was solid, how about pedo he gave nothing,  at least watts came to play unlike  many other players that just didn't give a Yelp, he chased hard and put on a big tackle in the 1 qtr, if more played like him in the 1 qtr it would not have been such a poor qtr. Every game could be Pedo's last but he just  gave nothing he was just not interested, did not see him.  we can only hope this burns in the players guts,  we need Max gawn to really put in a big preseason,  he never got to his  best from last seasons  once he pulled his hammy,  there's been so many bumps on the road  this year that I was even surprised that we won so many games,  there are no excuses but hell there are reasons.  just think what Geelong would be like with Dangerfield missing say 12 weeks like Gawn did.

Another positive. I'll take it. I'm pretty desperate for positives tonight.

If we had a wish list for next year surely we would like two games against Richmond (top 6 team), 2 games against Gold Coast (bottom 6 team) and two games against West Coast, Bulldogs and St Kilda (middle 6 teams)

I was going to do another post on this specifically.

Who didn't stand up in the first quarter?

And who didn't show up against Freo, Haw and NM?

That is the root of this violent drama - the arrogance of young men who can't be convinced to apply themselves consistently in their privilege.

As a club we have been so starved of success that we then over-celebrate every tiny victory as if we won the Grand Final.

I know it sounds pedantic but I hate how we carry on after each win. Goodwin was right in that we hadn't achieved anything yet, sadly the message didn't reach the players.

It's little things but they all add up and no training camp where players knock themselves out with bricks will fix it.

Halfway through the last quarter in the Brisbane game I made mention here that you could actually see the players had switched off, sure enough Brisbane came back which ultimately ended our season.

I have never hated being a Melbourne supporter as much as I do now.

It's just so disappointing. I'm pretty flat after remaining calm all year. We've thrown away such a golden opportunity for development.

How many good first quarters did we have this year? Why didn't they fix our starts? Why do we continue to let poor teams dictate terms to us?

Supporters could see this coming a mile away. We needed to come out with energy and for the second week in a row we looked lethargic.

The game plan needs to change. We cannot continue to handball backwards and play into the oppositions hands. Richmond changed their fortunes by stopping stuffing around with the ball.

No surprise but I first saw it on Warwick Cappers account. No I dont follow him but I stupidly put in melbourne fc to see what people were saying.

This is all David King's fault and the medias saying we could be top 4 and do some damage.

I have a feeling the media are going to be out and doing some door stopping on us tomorrow.

On another note just saw a crciket score. Aus 2-14. Warner failed again.

What's with all the vigilantes suddenly coming on here and telling us how to feel? Why do we all have to instantly put the rose cloloured glasses on?

That hurt. Not a wasted season. But expectations were set high following great wins. Only to be completely shattered by shocking losses. Not much to do now but bemoan missed opportunities. I will say, nothing from the club at all. Nothing on twitter. What's with that? Surely they understand the pain we are all going through? Even a small acknowledgment of the season and a "thanks for your support" is warranted, surely?

lol always someone who will cherry pick.

Goodwin stated that he didnt make any mention of our record against Norf going into either game. I knew each time we would lose as there was zero emphasis placed on our abysmal record, and the need to do something about it.

His empty rhetoric about making our own record or whatever [censored] he sprouted was proof enough that he doesnt have the skills to motivate our players to win against supposedly weaker teams. Watch the next few weeks and you might notice that there is no MFC playing finals when there bloody well should be.

He is as much to blame as the players, and currently i have no confidence in his ability to make us a serious threat.

No all the club want to do is send out an email during the week telling us how to get finals tickets.

Sadly he may be one of very few players who are really hurting, while the majority are dreaming of what they will do on mad Monday ?

He certainly needs to motivate the players, as the on field "leaders" have failed to do so far too often.

We usually get the '20% off guernseys' when we win.

I think this weekend should result in '80% off guernseys'.

The club is very wise to not say anything, the players will be even wiser if they do the same for the next month.

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
