What's this? Caught drinking or something?

Tmacs calf heavily strapped in the last and was labouring .

Noticed that too.

Hopefully the 9 days will be enough time to repair a strain.

Melbourne's media department should be fired for letting Channel 7 interview Bugg.

Its a Bugg problem. He did the wrong thing and has taken account. Primarily the club needs to do the best thing for the club. This is the best thing for the club. Bugg did the wrong thing, and he had to face the music. You can't reward Bugg for this by protecting him. We have a whole list to think of. That list doesn't need to distraction of T.Bugg. Now the spotlight is firmly on Bugg and not MFC. Well played by whoever allowed Bugg to get interviewed.

Hard to be critical of the team. We're decimated by injuries and 4 matches with consecutive 6 day breaks, including a trip to the other side of the country? Rubbish fixturing but NOT the reason we lost.

You can't replace Jones, Viney, Hogan, Garlett, Salem and Watts with depth, and we're looking at Tyson, Viney and T-Mac possibly joining that list. Hate to get all MFCSS but Carlton next week... [censored].

The first half was like we were a proud, but wounded, animal, we threw everything that we had and played with dare and boldness.

But all we could do is delay the inevitable.

Depth is a misnomer - repeat with me - you cannot replace your best players. Sydney are a world ahead of WCE and Pederen, TMac and the other forwards were a lost and motley crew.

With that said - White and Wagner were on a lower wavelength than the rest of the players, they were playing to a different beat. If they cannot do what Oscar has done, and lift their intensity and quickness of decision making - they should not be persevered with.

We were torn apart by a methodical team that we hope to replicate one day but we need to take care of the teams we should take care of before we have designs on the top 4 or a flag.

Carlton next week.

You want to be as good as Sydney?

They are 5 years ahead of you, next week you can restart on the path to that, lose and I don't know where you are...

I like this.

They simply hadn't played in the seniors enough to know what to do and when to do it. I noticed Wagner a few times try and implement the zone defense, but he was so far out of position that Sydney were able to kick it over his head to a leading player. I had my doubts about White and they have just multiplied ten fold after that.

Goodwin - "Wattsy and Jeffy could be back next week."  Obviously his hammy isn't too bad.

Confirmed Hogan is closer to returning as well.  The 9 days gives all 3 a chance to play next week.

An odd game.

The Swans managed to put great pressure on us, and when we finally got a bit of space we would absolutely butcher the ball and put the recipient back under extreme pressure. Fumbles galore, which usually isn't us at all.

Someone said the White had a great left boot on him. Must have been the same great left boot that Strauss was suppose to have  which for some reason I never noticed either.

Umpiring terrible for both sides, we got a number of [censored] frees and they got away with heaps too.

Lewis went missing; really starting to worry about him.

Oliver not his usual self.

Buggy suspended but would have been dropped anyway. 6 disposals. 33% DE. Shocking game.

Commentators were the pits. I always thought that people were being harsh on Bruce, but he needs to retire. A lot of his calls dont actually make sense.

The Good

Frost and OMac did very well in defense under great distress.

Petracca was very clean and strong when others were not. He will be a great player.

Plugger Mac has a great set shot.

Good summary. Can't believe White gets a game with skills like that. Turned over his first 5 kicks.

I must have misheard him in the Lindsay Hasett room.

Just watched his interview on AFL Tonight to clarify.

Said they are treating it as a normal hamstring as it was a bit sore prior to West Coast game when training. So 3 games out from the Bulldogs game.

Asked if he would play against Carlton, responded "I don't think so".

Really thought the the biggest loss we had was Salem.

We missed his calmness and silky skills.

Injuries have finally caught up with 4 games in 18 days! Im sure the club had reasons but need to ask why Kent or Jkh not come in for Kent & Weiderman as a tall fwd?

Csnt believe we have another captain injured... we are jinxed!

Interesting comments on MMM

Said that Goodwin's tactic of starting 3 extra players in defence and running through the middle is very taxing and we simply couldn't get moving all night. Particularly ofter 3 games on a 6 day break. We were out on our legs.

When we did get it we kicked to a fwd line composed of 3,4 and 5 on 1 all night.

When we played 6, 6 and 6 in the last 1/4 we were much more competitive and we had to run less.

35 point loss after THAT, I actually don't think it's too bad. % could've taken a belting, it didn't.

Agreed. It's not the loss that hurt, but further injuries and the clear evidence that there are a lot of tired and sore players on the park.

Not genuine for mine, cliche cliche cliche. Team line, scripted bullcrap, it's not how we want to be seen etc.

What do you want him to say, Einstein?  He said it was a bad look and he was embarrassed by his actions.  You can't say much more than that.

Effort and everything aside, that was a 15 goal loss

Could have easily been. They had 8 i50s and 6 points on the board before we had an i50.

Seppuku would have done it, really showed he meant what he was saying ;)

You could see this result from a mile out.. 4 games in 18 days absolutely brutal with a Perth trip at the end on top of the injuries, we were never going to win tonight. I'm happy to just throw this one out and move on. A full side & proper breaks & we'd have no dramas winning tonight

Honestly I think the bugg hit fired the swans up! Both sides looked a little flat but as soon as that happened they started to really dominate

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
