  2. While I can appreciate the sentiments and acknowledged them in my initial post, I reckon you have to establish the general mood/ thoughts/ consensus at the time. Otherwise you'd have nothing to compare to when you look back in 5 years as you suggest. I was by no means looking for 'answers', just opinions and discussions. Loved the bluntness of your first few words too mate, awesome, got a laugh out of it. I must be easily amused.
  3. In researching my DT and SC teams I stumbled across this page on the dreamteamtalk website re the top 10 draft picks. It is only useful re the latter part of my initial post re preferences for people's Dream Teams. You probably will need to vote to see the results (1,614 had voted at the time I posted this): http://dreamteamtalk.com/2009/11/27/which-afl-draftees-do-we-want-in-our-2010-dream-teams/
  4. I don't pretend to be an expert mate, but IMO Martin & Trengove are in for sure - subject to injury/ NAB cup time/ performances. I'd avoid Hamish Hartlett like the plague, a mate was involved with the short flower last season and he had a terrible run of injuries, from the sounds of it he's not quite right yet. No doubt he'll get past those injuries at some stage but I wouldn't be attempting to time it myself. Better less prone players IMO. Having said that I could be hypocritical having Grimes in my team, eh. Reckon Zeibell's injury not being a soft tissue one like HH's several, is worth overlooking - an inclusion in both my SC & DT sides. Dangerfield has a lot of upside IMO and I like him as a pacy, exciting player from a spectators viewpoint, crows website sounds like he's recovered well enough from his scare for the start of the season. I haven't been able to fit Morabito into my side at present, but definitely worth considering given Freo will probably need to blood more players in what I consider will be another underperforming season. I like the look of Edwards from richmond (defender & Fwd I believe) and Suban of freo isn't too steep yet.
  5. bahahaha. Many thanks in advance for the reports and photos of tomorrow's hitout!
  6. haha... doubt you'd be alone with that response. It's about the expectation pre performance, so responses before the upcoming NAB cup appearances would be less tainted/ more representative of what the club saw in the lads when researching the number one pick. EDIT Probably stated the obvious quite a bit there, lol.
  7. Going a fair bit off track here sorry, but I was flabbergasted that he was welcomed into the Hall of Fame so quickly after retiring. I was never a fan of the 'sniper' and didn't think that he was that much of a standout that he didn't have to wait for the honour. I'm sitting on the fence re the issue at hand though. I can see both angles on it and haven't yet felt outraged enough to listen to what exactly it was that he said / and listen to someone who I dislike.
  8. Not sure if this thread has been covered my apologies if it has. With picks 1 and 2 in the draft it is unclear (IMO) as to which player the Dees rated as a better prospect. I read somewhere that because Scully had long been touted as being potential number 1 pick for much of the year and dealt with the pressure etc, there was no point upsetting the apple cart and putting Trengove ahead of him, obviously it served no purpose. I don't know a heap about Tom or Jack, so for the purpose of general opinion and learning more about the strengths and weaknesses of the players (mainly from those who saw them play pre-draft) I ask the hypothetical question: If the Dees could only have drafted one player out of Scully or Trengove, who do you think it would have been? (and obviously, why?) Yes, I know it's kinda irrelevant as they are both on the Dees' list, why critique them against each other? I'm interested to see what responses and explanations you folk have and see if there's a consensus. From my personal viewpoint, albeit light on info as previously explained, I think that Jack Trengove is the better prospect. He seems to be more of a more rounded player, as well as (the short term benefit of) having played against men and performed well above expectations. As a side note: I've noticed in very early discussions re fantasy comps that many colleagues/ mates have chosen trengove in their team, with few selecting Sculls. Obviously there are many factors at play there re: my location, price, strategy, injury etc. Has anyone else noticed a clear early preference re fantasy comps between sculls & trenners?
  9. Sorry to prove you wrong. Well, only partially contributing to you being wrong - per below. Does that make him the deesignated driver? I agree with all who have posted about giving Jack more time to prove himself and perform. Watt's another year?
  10. jayceebee31 - looks like you've got a couple of double ups in Gysberts and Trengove but a pretty decent illustration of the future line up nonetheless. I think it's pretty difficult to give much weight to this report. It's a feel good story. However I agree that the premiership window is well and truly open for the period outlined by the Analyst. But there are far too many issues with relying on, or giving much credence to the report. Hopefully, more in depth analysis will become available (on an regular/ annual) in the future for forums like this to digest.

  12. bahahaha this thread is hillarous!!! But maybe I just had really low expectations, hence the thread is actually just average... perhaps like the expecatations on Gys.
  13. Cheers for the replies chaps. As far as bell-shaped curves go (no pun intended Daniel) it's a good representation. Hopefully an accurate one. Perhaps I tainted the responses by giving my opinion upfront.
