Friday Night Lights

I know we're still concentrating on this Saturday's game, but I hope we get a solid crowd turn-out on next Friday night at the MCG against Sydney. With all this talk of North's dismal attendance last Friday night game (even chatter about them moving to Tassie), I think it's a really good opportunity for us (fans, members) to show we appreciate playing on the big stage by showing up in droves next Friday night.

If you haven't already put next Friday in the diary, then do it now!

If we win this week and Sydney win will get close to 50k imo plenty of dees and swans supporters plus you would expect a lot of neutrals

I am flying down from Sydney for this game.

Can't wait!

That would for 5 in a row I guess :roos:

I reckon the AFL are fudging the figures.

The official attendance for the North-Saints stinker was 26,000, which means the ground was supposedly half-full (Etihad holds 53,000).

Anyone who watched on Friday night and saw the cameras panning over empty stands knows it wasn't half full, not even close to it.

As a comparison, we had 33,000 at our game v the Bulldogs, which seemed about right on the day. But there's no way we only had 7,000 more. I reckon the real attendance for the North game was closer to 15-20k.

Mid winter Friday night during school holidays against an interstate team..... 37K would be a very good crowd and anything approaching 45K would be a great crowd.

I agree with you. We were their Sunday and compared the crowd to the TV vision of the North-Saints match and it was nearly twice the size. AFL fudging the crowd again. And I thought Ian Collins was the only one to do it. Was told once that the attendance was 5,000 even before the gates open (Medallion Club). Sounds about right for any variance.

Win or lose this week, there will still be 50,000

If we both win it'll be 50k+. Bookmark it.

Was it 98 we got over 50,000 on a Monday night with Plugger kicking a ton and we made it 4 wins on the trot?

I remember that night. Was pretty magical if I recall as it cemented our spot in the top 8.

Didn't we have to win against Richmond in the last round to guarantee finals. We belted them they missed out and we ended up top four

Just checked heading into last round we were a game ahead of Bombers Tigers Crows and Meth  Coast with us having a very inferior percentage . We were 1 game behind St Kilda.  Bombers lost on the Saturday which guaranteed us finals and opened up spot for Richmond. Saints lost and we belted the Toiges with the Wiz also taking a memorable grab. We were good that September accounting for eventual Premiers the Crows and Saints before going down to the flag favourites North in the prelim. Remember our form that September and it was one that got away

I was looking back at goal kicking records the other day and thought "who would've imagined that we would only see three more tonnes kicked since that night". It seemed to happen at least once a year back then, usually multiple times a year.

Anyone know if any other teams have three straight 6 day breaks with  a big interstate trip in the middle?

We have been shafted by the AFL schedulers, I am surprised PJ let them get away with it.

Just asking - has Collingwood ever had such tight scheduling with a trip in the middle?

Surely such an integrity based body like the  AFL would never lie or fudge facts to suit their agenda.  Can't believe it.

Coming down from Brisbane with a mate for this game! Cant wait for the dees to steal the spotlight with a win against the swans :)

Gee it would be great to see highlights from that game. Was a fantastic night. That's when we really cemented our spot in the 8.

Frees 11-31 Sydney's way!

Would love 55k+

Hopefully us coming off a win, get to see Gawny back live and a game where we are more of a chance to win than previous years.
