The pies supporters are saying Collingwood should make a complaint about Watts goading their cheersquad, anyone see what he did?

They are kidding themselves, Joffa what a w anker he is. The amount of chit they would have given Watts over the years let alone Monday, Watts gives a little back and the power puffs have a sook.

Lewis on AFL 360 tonight said

  • Jeremy Howe the best mark ever
  • Massive crowd at QB. A lot on my mind. Need to win to stay in touch with the 8
  • Jack Watts the most scrutinised player he has ever seen. Cool under pressure. No one deserves that moment more than him. My interpretation was that Jordan ducked the question about giving Jack bit of a kick along over pre-season
  • Acknowledges he (Lewis) had a bad game. Riewoldt has him as super coach captain and was giving him poo about getting 34 points. Will do better
  • Petracca and the rest of the young ones are there to do their job. No ceiling on the kids. Hunt lightning quick, 87 kgs now and highly competitive (he said the highly competitive bit like he meant it) Robbo/Whately suggesting he will get targeted as Johannsien was against Swans. (They'll have to catch him first)

Could you imagine the media today if he stuffed that up completely and missed that goal? Could you imagine the outrage on here. This is why I'm so happy for him and he was composed.

There was absolutely no chance he was missing that goal. I was riding it the whole way and knew (KNEW 100%) he'd kick it. Whatever Jack's failings, his kicking for goal has never been one of them. I was 100% confident the entire way.

Lastly, what an incredible game of AFL footy. Intensity from the bounce to the final siren, kudos to both sides.

We were right in line with Jack's kick for goal, right up in the clouds, so we had a bird's eye view of it, and it never looked like missing.

I was on my feet and yelling my lungs out before I realised it, as was my son and everyone around us. As, to my great shock, were my wife and stepdaughters right beside me, who are African. This was only their 2nd live game of AFL, and Jack's their favourite player. Finally might have won them over.

Yeah, that'll do it, I reckon!

The word is ammunition, folks

My favourite from an irate Pies fan suggesting they pull out of QB all together;

"So I gather by everybody thoughts here I'm not the only one, we owe Neale Daniher nothing, they can [censored] off and use another club like they use and our massive following, I've had a gut full of this stuff, Collingwood are stupid to let another club to pump them up to the detriment of our team and 4 points each year, the AFL don't want us to spoil the party, those lady 3 mins today told a huge story, it was the BIG FIX, something needs to change, the booing for the maggots as they walked off today was massive, loud and long, we could all see it, yet they treat us as stupid"

Enough said really ?

Ok I should not bite but if I could post on whatever site this came from Id make this loser watch this video.

http://www.melbournefc.com.au/video/2017-06-13/daniher-inspires-melbourne

"we owe daniher nothing." What a jerk. Someone in the future will owe him their life.

Sermon over I have been seething on that all day.

Its ok. Apparently Jack went around to Joffa's to apologise

Re-watching the final two minutes:

  1. I hadn't noticed it live but Watts' run from CHB when Hibberd spoils De Goey to get into space is incredible.
  2. I had thought ANB pushed Adams in the back but I think he grabs his jumper and Adams just moves weirdly as he kicks it. Great chase from ANB regardless.
  3. I think it was probably holding the ball against Hunt - took Treloar on, got caught, I don't think he handpassed it - but I think the umpire had fallen over and probably missed it.
  4. I still think we can do better at protecting leads late in the game. We had the entire side backwards of centre but they still managed two shots on goal.

I haven't been a big fan of the count down clock appearing on the Tissot advertising signage around the ground, but there was something almost poetic about Harmes streaming down the outer wing while the milliseconds were counting down in the background. Then as he kicked to Watt's advantage sections of MFC supporters in the Southern Stand appeared to rise as one as they knew either way something big was about to happen

Re-watching the replay: halfway through 3rd q : Tim Watson 'Melbourne have completely lost their shape here' as Lewis makes a perfect 45' pass off half back, we switch fat side wing then one more kick to Watts in space inside 50.

He seriously just says things for the sake of it! What a joke of a commentary team!

Melbourne will have to watch out when teams start tagging Hunt. He is our most important player IMO. When Gawn is in the side, he's our most important, but Hunt is just so vital for our run off half-back.

Another thing. I was at the game, but in the excitement didn't notice the full on booing at the final siren from the Filth sooks. It almost drowns out our song on the telecast.

What a bloody disgrace the pies fans are to themselves and the whole football world.

On your point #2. Tim Watson twice said that he thought it was a push in the back but when you look at the replay (and he has the advantage of that in the commentary box) it is clear that ANB grabbed at the lower part of his jumper and pants. You can clearly see his pants being pulled. NEVER in the back Timmy.

I'm a tad peeved that there's quite a few Watts' bashers on this forum who are sitting back saying that they're 'happy for him' and this was the 'redemption' blah blah blah

Jack Watts is more to this footy team than that goal yesterday - he shows human leadership, determination, has an iron will and an ability to turn off from puerile, unrelentless vitriol

That goal was Jack Watts doing what he does best - the poise, the class, the finish

Get off his bandwagon you pretentious pricks - you know who you are

Get off it Jumbo. A poster can be critical of aspects of Watts's game and acknowledge his good traits and also when he exceeds those particular criticisms without it being on-or-off a supposed bandwagon. This is the sort of nonsense why people don't feel comfortable even mentioning Jack's name with even the slightest hint of criticism on here. I was happy for Jack yesterday. Thought he didn't go hard enough at times vs. GC. Where's the divisiveness in that? It's Jack's apologists who are engaging in the trench-mentality.

Totally agree JR.

I've worked out how Pro Dee gets so many likes.

Just write something facile in the post match thread- straight after a great win-something that totally contradicts 8 years of poo-poo- then jump on the back of JW and high fives all round!!

Shame on the up voters also.

Get away from "our boy" Jack.

Poor Skuit - you'll be right, baby...

The most micro critiqued player of all time - not just a passing commentary, but in most cases, pages and pages

Thought he didn't go 'hard enough against GC?' What a refreshing viewpoint

Give it a rest

C'mon mate.

Poor Skuit? I'm not even sure what that means.

He may well have a history of being micro-critiqued, at times unfairly. No reason to draw the shutters thereafter.

Refreshing would be the ability to discuss Jack like any other footballer.

Anywho. At the risk of being considered a pretentious [censored], I enjoyed the win and loved Jack's contribution in the bit I watched.

There should be one out there in TV land, hopefully it'll turn up on one of the programs.

I'm living in the UK now, only being able to watch this streamed on my TV is the first time I really wish I was back home! I would've love to hear that roar in person as it sailed through the big sticks!

Just as an aside a moment I did get from the broadcast, Neale Daniher was interviewed at the quarter time and at the end of it he cried out "Go Dees". Gave me goosebumps, he still has love for the club.

Pendlebury was interviewed just before the game and was asked what Daniher had said to them when he addressed the Coll players.  The only part of Pendlebury's response that I heard was was  '..he didn't wish us good luck as I think he wants Melbourne to win!'  Loved it.  And like you loved that Daniher wears his Melbourne heart on his sleeve.  (I prefer to ignore that he has some black and red in there).

Sitting in the AFL members the booing was defeaning. Made belting out the song at the top of my lungs all the sweeter. Got plenty of dirty looks and dirty comments. It was beautiful especially after they'd all been giving it to Watts and the club in general all day.

There was a time during the current Melbourne cycle that goes back to before the premiership when the club was the toughest to beat in the fourth quarter. The Demons were not only hard to beat at any time but it was virtually impossible to get the better them when scores were close at three quarter time. It was only three or four years ago but they were fit, strong and resilient in body and mind. Sadly, those days are over. This has been the case since the club fell off its pedestal about 12 months ago after it beat Geelong and then lost to Carlton. In both instances, Melbourne put together strong, stirring final quarters, one that resulted in victory, the other, in defeat. Since then, the drop off has been dramatic to the point where it can neither pull off victory in close matches, nor can it even go down in defeat  gallantly.

  • CASEY: Footscray

At twenty-four minutes into the third term of the game between the Casey Demons and Footscray VFL at Whitten Oval, the visitors were coasting. They were winning all over the ground, had the ascendancy in the ruck battles and held a 26 point lead on a day perfect for football. What could go wrong? Everything. The Bulldogs moved into overdrive in the last five minutes of the term and booted three straight goals to reduce the margin to a highly retrievable eight points at the last break. Bouyed by that effort, their confidence was on a high level during the interval and they ran all over the despondent Demons and kicked another five goals to lead by a comfortable margin of four goals deep into the final term before Paddy Cross kicked a couple of too late goals for a despondent Casey. A testament to their lack of pressure in the latter stages of the game was the fact that Footscray’s last ten scoring shots were nine goals and one rushed behind. Things might have been different for the Demons who went into the game after last week’s bye with 12 AFL listed players. Blake Howes was held over for the AFL game but two others, Jack Billings and Taj Woewodin (not officially listed as injured) were also missing and they could have been handy at the end. Another mystery of the current VFL system.

The Demons head back out on the road in Round 10 when they travel to Queensland to take on the reigning Premiers and the top of the table Lions who look very formidable. Can the Dees cause a massive upset? Who comes in and who goes out?

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.
