Early in the game I was thinking that it was probably time that Mitch spent a few weeks at Casey but he justified his spot for another few weeks after that performance. His game was reminiscent of his first game against the Saints and I hope we see more of this and less of him going missing.

He thinks...I like it... Some players find space..Trapper was a classic at that..Flash also... Hannan finds TIME.  It's interesting.

He wins the unwinnable ball. Watch Oliver's goal from last week. Mitch had 2, 3, 4 efforts in the contest, didn't get a clear possession but kept the ball alive. He did a lot against the Crows without doing much, if that makes sense, whereas against North he stood up when it was obvious that Garlett, Kent and Bugg weren't doing enough.

Thats a fair effort from Mitch.  Looks like he has the potential to be a great mid sized forward. Jesse Hogans presence will only help him.

Mitch might well prove Kent's undoing ;)

Hannan really surprised me on the weekend. I'll put my hand up and say he was one I wanted to see come out of the team, however he proved to be one of our best players on the day. I was quite impressed with his body work 1:1, and his willingness to play on at every opportunity and create play. He set about about 3 goals with his smart decision marking and hitting up targets instead of blazing away.

Good stuff Mitch, keep it up!

he is clean , good skills, quick and great mark for his size. He can definitely develop into that dangerous forward with good defensive pressure type player we have been trying to develop with AVB, ANB , brayshaw and others who are not suited to that forward role.

I have no idea why anyone has doubted him.
He made a direct impact in his first game, has some lean games but no where near our worst.
Clean hands above, massive jump, kicks goals, quick and big.

And has played a handful of games only.
Anyone who was calling for his dropping needs to may a bit more attention to the footy I think and not just look at the stat sheet.

He does so many things that don't reflect on the stats sheet, particularly in the game against the Crows. I have him in my Dreamteam, and from that perpective he is frustrating. So nice to see him getting rewarded for effort on Sunday, and team of the week is deserved recognition.

Has all the tools to become a good player.

I'll put my hand up as a doubter, but he'll win me over with more performances like on the weekend.  Seems to be playing AVB role and has had a lot asked of him early in his career - especially with Kent having a season to forget.  Has a decent basic skillset and a bit of x-factor about him.  Needs to get on a bit run and find his groove at this level.

One of the few bright spots out of what is turning out to be a miserable season for MFC.

We really need to have some luck with our lower round picks. He's a good fit for the game plan

Well done

Loved what he's brought from the get-go. A certain energy and spark, and evident potential. But not sure why people are suddenly saying he's so clean. Still adjusting to the pace and fumbles a lot when gathering, even on the weekend, and much of his disposal to date has been rushed and well off target. In that sense, and in his attributes, he's not all that dissimilar to Harmes, and if Harmes had been playing the same position full-time for the same output many would be calling for his axing. Congrats to Mitch on his selection for Team of the Week. An exciting prospect.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
