Changes vs Freo

I would be bringing in Spencer for Gawn, but also bring in Pedersen for either Weideman or Smith to play second ruck. Let Watts play forward, especially after having to ruck all day Saturday.

Yep and one other change Kennedy for Harmes, and possibly Bugg for ANB

spencil for maximus (obvious)

pedobear for weiderman (can handle forward line rucking plus chopouts for spensil)

maybe others like buggy to play a stopper role on fyfe (or other mid). frosty in backline to free up bernie

In-Jake Spencer, Cam Pedersen,

Out- Max Gawn, Sam Weideman

The VInce injury sounds very awkward/painful..  dont think we will see him vs the Dockers unfortunately.

Looking forward to seeing Jake, time to be the bride. Maxy's marking hasn't been the best this year, where it has become a feature of Jake's game. Aside from the rucking, I'm thinking Jake could be more than up to it around the ground. Doubt we'll see any other changes.

Just wondering....if it wasn't Freo, against Sandilands, would OMac be competitive at the centre bounces?

Jake will play, but I'm nervous...

Watts does a decent job as a second ruckman. He is clever in avoiding too much contact and has a reasonable go at the centre bounces. He is also very much an asset when the ball hits the deck, because of his pace and decision making. We obviously need to bring in Spencer this week, but I don't understand the angst about him being the second ruck.

If you missed it, Luke Beveridge was asked after the game if he would consider bringing Will Minson back next week. The only problem was he’s retired.

We've all made similar mistakes. Only recently did I stop calling for Melbourne to select Allen Jakovich. It turns out he left the club back in 1994

I thought this was mildly funny from Titus O'Reilly today. Jako would be handy with Hogan out.

I don't think Brayshaw will come in this week. By all accounts he did the right things on the weekend for Casey but they want to see him do it consistantly.

I think you could be right. If he is unable to train this week we might see Vince out again.

Petraccattack has got it pretty right I think

CC     Viney           Jones.           Brayshaw.

HF    Harmes.          Watts          Petracca

FF     Garlett         Weideman     Smith

INTER:    Meltsham.  Stretch  Kent.  Frost

IN    Spencer.   Frost    Brayshaw

OUT:   Gawn.   Neale-Bullen.  Hannah

still not a bad side I think

Ok need to ask why you would drop ANB After 28 disposal game that included 1 goal and 10 tackles

Pedersen is coming off a major opp. Based on the absence of any real feedback to the contrary from Casey, not sure if he's ready.

I could be wrong.

No change other than Spence. Go Dees!

Anyone know the status of Sam Frost?

Underrated player who can play multiple roles, including ruck.  Will be nice to get him back in.

Through my rose-coloured crystal ball, I'm picturing Spencer joining the list of Demon rucks who emerged impressively from the shadow of an acknowledged best ruck. Jolly and Martin being the biggest and most recent examples.

Through the mist I can see... later in the season, with Spencer doing well, Weid still needing time to develop, and the club cautious about Gawn's return to full-time ruck, we may even see Gawn play as the FF target with stints in the ruck, as opposed to the other way around. A tidy 20 goals in 5 games while not putting so much running burden on him will do nicely.

By the time finals come around, Spencer's confidence will have grown to the point where is is much more involved in play and is also clunking marks when forward, and we will have the most effective big-man combo in the history of the game on our way to a stomping premiership triump.

All is well. I promise.

As for next week -

Vince is forgiven for his poor game, on account of squelchy red socks. Tyson is still on thin ice, though he improved somewhat in the second half, that first half was appalling. Hannan and Harmes didn't have a fun day out but I'm not sure they outright failed so much as just had things not go their way.

Hard to say what to do with Weideman and Smith both having difficult days out. Smith you have to feel for, first game and first thing that happens is all the tall structures get screwed around. Wont somebody tell me exactly what is going on with Pederson?

What are the 'right' things? Defensive game?

You would have to ask Plapp..

From afl.com

The Casey coach added omitted midfielder Angus Brayshaw (25 disposals) was clean by hand at ground level and "showed signs of what we need him to be doing contest to contest"

'Showed signs' doesn't sound to me like he is a must add this week.

My Dad was at the game and said in his opinion he did OK and worked hard around the contest but didn't stick out.

That being said Angus is probably my favourite player and I think if he was fit and played a required role against Freo I think he's always worth adding.

Sorry if this has already been mentioned, but did anyone see Casey play... love a brief update on Frost/Bugg/Kennedy/brayshaw types?

Spencer will play, Watts will be a very sore boy early this week.

We played exceptionally good footy over the weekend. Wouldn't make any changes besides pencil.

Neal-bullen deserves full credit - amazing story. Wasn't in anybody's best 22 and his numbers are elite. Kicking efficiency will come. (Rory Sloane type)

Never see weideman on tv, but he must be doing something to create space.

O.Mcdonald is improving. Frost still fits.

Oliver, Petracca, Hunt and Salem are heading for stardom.

Was Viney given the captaincy too soon?

Agree....I want him back asap

Couldn't really play forward or ruck so my multiple roles have him pretty much as a defender.

Not much chop anywhere else.

No way ANB will get dropped !!!

Cannot wait to show the rest of the competition what we can do this weekend, minus Gawn, Hogan and Lewis.

Add Vince AF.

Like your confidence did you see what happened to the Dogs on the weekend?
