Gawn doesn't get a lot of the ball, statistically he is very similar to Brayshaw at the moment, that is all.

There was no comparison to style of play or anything else, just the numbers.

I was there early and before the main warm up session brayshaw trac and hogan were practising shots on goal.

Normally good but maybe an indication they thought it would be a goal feeding frenzy?

I was disappointed with all 3 on Sunday - traks long delays to kick the ball when he occasionally got a kick were inexplicable.  Particularly when hogan was in a one on one situation

True, but it still allowed us to move the ball quickly.  When we moved it quickly during other parts of the game we were still able to score, but we also took too long or turned it over during other stages of the game.  We had to adapt and, thankfully, we adapted in time.

No doubt, but I have (for about ten years now on this forum) maintained that if you always have options (preferable not outnumbered) forward of the ball, the ability of the player with the ball to move it on quickly becomes much easier.

This also ties into what was saying about getting back behind the mark quicker. If a player can play-on straight away that's great and should be the first option, but if they can't they then need to push back behind the mark much quicker so that they can then in turn kick from the mark without pressure quicker.

Jack Watts' dropped marks were very frustrating but glass half-full is he is getting to the front in the contest and providing an option going forward through heavy congestion.  If he holds those marks, with his disposal on the other side, he's very damaging.  I think he's working very hard on his game.

I reckon he's not putting his dukes out to mark must have something to do with his injured hand. Never been a player to regularly go for the chest marks. Much easier to mark with your arms outstretched.

Here's a full breakdown of all the teams in a lot of key stats.

In some, there's not a lot of difference between teams, and they are skewed by a small number of players. For example, Melbourne has 58 games of finals experience, but 23 of them belong to Jordan Lewis. Without him we'd down on the bottom with Brisbane.

Melbourne is down towards the bottom of the list for average age, average games, average goals, average finals and players with more than 100 games. It points towards another year or two of development to get into premiership contention, provided there's enough skill on the list.

The guys have bought into the gameplan of overlap from behind the ball but don't expect Hogan to like it too much, as a CHF I hate it when we set up from stoppages with 4 forwards.

We're still young and inexperienced, but our list isn't the youngest or least experienced.

Game day stats change weekly and for round 2 we were the youngest and second least experienced behind only Gold Coast.

It is the most packed I have seen the MCC for 10 years other than QB. Sounded like a fair few Bluebaggers in there too but we clearly outnumbered them around the ground

After two rounds he appears somewhat less than the hype.

Yeah he`s made the odd blue OD, maybe he is still adjusting to our gameplan and our spread is a lot slower and not as wide as what he had for the last decade! He is very slow though, might still be hope for Trengove as I reckon he`d have him covered for speed sadly!

Yes I wonder about that three year contract.

I can live with Lewis turning it over because it is the exception rather than the rule.

Plus he has runs on the board and provides a lot more this team than just his kicking.

I just hope that tired weak  excuse is retired for good when we may not play at our optimal best. Sick of hearing it every season since 2009.

I don't disagree with that Clint but his kicking is not the flawless quality that was talked about pre season.
