If you are a member and haven't received your email yet or just a supporter, the Club is having their annual end of year open training session at Gosch's Oval on Friday 16 December from 9.30 to 11.30. There will be the usual BBQ, Santa and Checker to entertain you all.

If you haven't already purchased your membership the Membership and Demon Shop tents will be operating.

All monies raised at the BBQ will go to Demon Army to assist them with purchasing new "heads" and other items for 2017.

Why wouldn't they have it the following week. I would love to take my kids but that day is their last day of school for them. I'm assuming many others would be in a similar boat.

It's the last training for the year. They can't have it the next week! It's a shame it isn't the Saturday or even 3pm on the Friday so people could take the arvo off, but I guess they are trying to stick to their routine and get the year done before the players break for 2 weeks.

Take the kids out of school in the morning and return them at lunch time?

I'm bringing tofu burgers and vege kebabs in case Moonshadow rides in on his biodiesel scooter.

Can we bring wine?

Surely Saty is a shoo in for Santa with that beard. Though the kiddies may be somewhat bemused to see Santa arriving on a scooter than on a reindeer led sleigh.

He will need to stuff a number of pillows under the red outfit. Saty is quite slim.

Actually the beard is trimmed I'm afraid to say, and after discovering the brioche at ALDI, the number of pillows required might be lessened

Don't forget the deconstructed latte Biff.

For you I'll bring some burnt lamb chops, a six pack of VB tinnies and 2 points of goey.

That is, if you actually show up.

Brioche is too oily for my tastes.

Sorry no brioche, tofu or vege sausages but delicately flavoured and cooked snags and white bread. Club might go the whole way and offer brown bread as an alternative to white. No expense spared.

Stick it then.

This is the MFC .

Not some dirty suburban cultural wasteland.

If we don't have 7 different types of organic sausage I'm going to my own sausage party.

I expect a rocket and Parmesan salad with a balsamic vinaigrette at the very least as a side.

This is Gosches paddock after all, not  the Burmese railway .

Care to rephrase that Biff?

Tongues will wag.

Surely you would add some more greens, then you could have a Parmesan vinaigrette instead, I find when the BBQ is on at Gosch's,  a nice little sachet of Worcestershire sauce that I carry with me, gives my sausage that extra lift

Worcestershire and HP are sauces usually preferred by ten pound poms.

If we're going to do this properly we need some beetroot chutney and some olives stuffed with goats cheese.

I'm thinking a Semillon or Pinot Gris might be ideal.

No pork pies please Saty.

Biff, arrived here Business Class on Singapore Airlines, begged them to let me stay as a political refugee, escaping the impending era of Thatcher, thankfully they relented.

Discovered Chiko rolls, Aussie Rules and a mini skirted young female CBA employee in the first few weeks I was here and I was hooked

Haven't managed to find a decent pork pie in all the years i have been here, they never get the jelly quite right, closest was in Brisbane

Never been a wine man myself, prefer a nice cold McCrackens

Looking forward to your scintillating reports, Jack!

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
