Might get jumper for girl in avatar - wear mini dress to our games at Sportman's Bar

Take the scarf off her and give her a beanie. Should improve the avatar too. radar

Didn't PJ mentioned a few years back that they wanted a store in a more centralised location in the CBD? Regardless of how nice the apparel is, is the branding effective if people not otherwise engaged with it are actually aware of it? I can't imagine anyone that isn't a Melbourne supporter making the effort to catch the train to Richmond or Jolimont, and then walking to the bowels of the MCG to buy a t-shirt.

Have you heard of online shopping?  Retail outlets are an outdated business model.

Presence on Game-day I get, in a merchandising van or other suitable location at the ground, where you have a targeted audience walking past.  You aren't making money selling to tourists walking past a retail outlet.

We should be presenting ourselves as "THE" club of Melbourne.  So all visitors are inclined to buy our gear as a memory from Their visit. Thus it is important to focus on the "red and the blue" colours of our theme song. Get rid of the white  and just sell and wear the core colours.

An appropriately positioned advert at the airport and other visitor in ports introduces us, similar posters at info centres etc reinforces and a well placed retail outlet at visitor sites complements the online facility. Visitor purchase likely to be impulse so selling at sports museum MCG (our home) would seem essential. Final sale at destination points after posters featuring action shots of our game.

Online shopping is for people who know what they want. Having a retail shop that only serves diehard fans is pointless. Walking traffic and random purchases in the heart of the CBD is merely a branding exercise. It's not about making money. It's about putting your brand anyway but the bowels of the MCG.

The mostly blue polo shirts look so much better than the red ones.  I hope we never go back to the red.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder CB.

Every year there are new designs to get more sales you can put the house on basic red in the not distant future.

They'd run out of blue polos by the time I ordered mine last year so purchased the red instead.

I like it more than this seasons.

Well said, I was in Chicago a few months ago staying in Wrigleyville and they nailed it with all the Cubs stuff. There were pop up shops with all the gear on game days but outside of that there's a massive shop opposite the stadium open every day.

I reckon there a three or four places that we could open and see how they go, 1. Melbourne Central, 2. Bourke Street, 3. Southern Cross Station, and 4. Melbourne Airport. Aside from selling merchandise its great for exposure, I'd expect a place like Melbourne Central would be great for tourists who just buy it as a souvenir.

I bought a Mets cap in New York because I liked the style, don't really care for the Mets though but it reminds me of my trip. All the people I met while traveling the states all had baseball caps they had bought while travelling, one guy had a bunch of different teams.

I like this years red polo, atleast it almost matches the red of the jumper! I can't stand this polo, not to my taste and I buy one every year, I wear it under my footy jumper, will not be buying this one.

Have told the Mrs that if anyone asks what to get me for my bday (this month) to get me the new training singlet.

I don't know if it's been mentioned yet but I just picked up that there's no 'New Age Caravans' logo on the sleeves of the media polo.

Has their sponsorship ceased?

Has there been any word on new sponsors for 2017.

I know we aren't too bad  financially but obviously it will help.

Don't be too sure of that, Ross.

Have recently had friends from O/S staying in CBD Melbourne.  They wanted to by a MFC polo shirt, and could not find one anywhere.  Every time they come over (once or twice a year), they will buy a Melbourne Storm top.  They have even been in to some of the general sports stores in the CBD and reckon they can't find a MFC top anywhere.

As others have posted similar stories, I've been to the USA a couple of times in the past few years, and each time I've been, I've bought something team related from the city I have been to (i.e. Yankees cap and Knicks singlet while in New York, Maple Leafs shirt with in Toronto).  If you're a sports nut, and you're a tourist, you will often spend money on apparel.

Also, I couldn't tell you the last time I went to the Dees store (I can't actually tell you if I've EVER been).  I can assure you, if there was one in the CBD, I'd visit it every time I was in town (coming from Geelong).

I've always thought Fed Square would be the best place - it's central, accessible, and there's always something happening in that area.  I've also always said that they should sell MFC merchandise where the Tour of the MCG ends.  They may well sell stuff there, but it's an ideal place to have some apparel available to purchase there.

I think it's great to have the store at the 'G' given the amount of tours etc that out-of-towners and tourists take of the place. It should be the last thing they're taken thru - like any good gift shop.

Its l just in a woeful location.

I think there is a market for tourists and we may be missing a trick by not tapping into impulse purchases.

Personally I still treasure my New York Yankee pitchers mitt and copy of the match magazine from Maple Leafs V New York Rangers (Gretzky played...KOTD being in Toronto for that one!).

If there is a market put your money up.

Open a shop or buy stock in volume and insell to retailers.  The cost of cbd rents aint cheap. It comes down to the business case and saying there is a market is not saying much. Afterall there's a market for everything!

Ridiculous spot. and i agree 100% they should have a store at the g and Fed square. part of the rationale for re branding as Melbourne was to become an iconic brand. Pretty hard to achieve if tourist and locals can't buy the products.

I don't mind buying stuff online but only if know the sizing and how it looks on. I was going to buy gear at XMAS time and went to go the Demon Shop but abandoned it as there is zero places to park. Stupid

I was going to do the same thing but no parking out me off so I bought online and guessed sizes. Came out ok but does out people off.

Binny there is parking at Fed it is $$$ if you are just making that trip. It is a tough one as I'm sure the club has and constantly looks at having better visible/access to a shop but costs wouldn't stack up.
