I like that we have a decent run at the G to start and end the season. One Friday night game is a bit poor, but three Saturday nights might make up for it. The amount of six day breaks is a worry, will test us. Positive overall though.

Listening to the bloke that released the draw, looking at how many 6-day breaks we've got is a very simplistic way of looking at it.  He suggested looking at how many games we play where we have had a greater break than our opponent.

He used the example of Geelong - 8 x 6-day breaks (equal most in the comp), but they are playing 10 games where they have had a longer break than their opponent.

We can't complain too much about the 6-day break thing, especially when we want our QBD Monday game, and we now have our Anzac Eve game.

Only 4 away games interstate.

4 Games at Etihad to give us more chance of learning how to play there.

A home game against a "power" club in Carlton.

A bye after an NT game.

A Friday night game.

Only play Adelaide and North, from the 2016 top 8, twice, all other finalists from this year just once.

I think it is a very positive draw.

4 Etihad games in the first 13 rounds. In the same period we play at the MCG 6 times.

Glad we play Geelong in Melbourne.

Essendon away at Etihad. How about a game against them for once?

2x games vs Carlton at the MCG is great.

4x interstate away games, two of which are in Canberra and Tassie (vs North).

Overall, solid fixture.

North is a positive...

I think they will finish bottom 4 this year.

This is a dream draw for us.

We only play Swans, Bulldogs, Cats, West coast and Hawthorn once.

This could be the year we make finals.

Can't complain too much but one Friday night game for us when Sydney and the Bulldogs share 2/3 of every Friday night for the entire season? Taking the [censored] now, aren't they?

Even if they made the Grand Final, surely sharing around Friday nights a little more evenly would be the preferred outcome. Have they not learned how boring the surplus of Carlton, Richmond, Collingwood and Hawthorn games became in recent years!?

We should win 7 or 8 of our last 9.

    THE CAVALRY ARRIVES by Megg

The injury plague which has beset the Demons 2024 campaign is finally starting to dissipate and with consecutive wins over GWS Giants and a 2-point nail-biter in Adelade, a sense of optimism is rising.  Some commentators are now asking whether the Dees can make finals? A huge surprise with team selection this week when it was announced that champs Olivia Purcell, Paxy Paxman and Eden Zanker would play.   Hallelujah!  The cavalry has arrived. St Kilda missed the finals last season on pe

    GOLDIE'S METTLE by Meggs

On a perfect night for football at the home of the Redlegs, Norwood Oval, it was the visiting underdogs Melbourne who led all night and hung on to prevail in a 2-point nail-biter. In the previous round St Kilda had made it a tough physical game to help restrict Adelaide from scoring and so Mick Stinear set a similar strategy for his team. To win it would require every player to do their bit on the field plus a little bit of luck.  Fifty game milestoner Sinead Goldrick epitomised

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.
