We are a potential 50,00 member club make no mistake. I get the feeling that the ' lapsed member ' category is still largely untapped. We could also increase support amongst the junior ranks not to mention the  cat / dog pet membership area.

Alice just seems like a better fit. I'd be happy to keep that one and hopefully even get up for one of them eventually.

Alice Springs might be a better fit for us, but I doubt very much the NT Government which pays us to play in Darwin and the Alice would agree.

I despair at your negative outlook thinking that our membership numbers could contract to five thousand just on the cusp of being a power club for the next decade. I don't agree with you that we are destined to lose 38,000 members and am more inclined to think that we can soar to 50,000!

Well, you might be right CB. If our slogan is " Let's go for infinity members, then 500,000 should be the target !!!! not my modest 5000.

I notice we have almost 22,000 members for next season already. I'm not sure how that compares with '16, can anyone bring up comparable figures please

The opening post for this thread last year showed we had 22,000 members at around this time.  This year we have 15,211- almost 7,000 short.  That is a huge shortfall.  (Both figures are before the automatic rollovers which usually happen at the end of October).

It seems a of lot members are not too impressed with our 2017 performance.  It will be interesting to see how those yet to renew, react to the trades this year, in particular Watts.

I certainly hope we win a lot of games in the first few months of 2018 otherwise it will be a hard road to win members back.

2018 will be a critical year for mfc to deliver on and off the field.

Your not wrong after the way we finished up the season against the pies was nothing short of disgusting and I would say it’s left a sour taste in everyone’s mouth, I personally don’t care that watts was traded I’m still [censored] about round 22, my membership just rolls over but Club is on its last warning with me finals next year or I will find it very difficult to renew in 2019

I would love to know the membership figures right now in comparison to what they were this time last year.  Particularly what's gone on in the past week with Lever/without Watts.

Can't give you the up-to-date figures for this precise point in time, but if you scroll about 12cm up you can access the data from roughly ten hours ago.

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
