It wasn't a matter of Chip discussing his true intentions, the impression I got when talking to him and it was confirmed by others at the club after the fact was that he had not made his mind up, similar to Hogan probably 50/50 at one stage but when Hawthorn came calling with a chance of a flag, he couldn't say no, and none of us would either if we were in his position

And please try and keep your posts civil, la la land has plenty of inhabitants on here

It seems likely that they would have been speaking with Frawley on and off from the end of his previous year with us and probably right the way through his final year.

IMO Chip was in self preservation mode for most of his last season with us. I do not believe he was giving his all for that yesr, and Roos playing him as a clumsy forward was evidence we were planning ahead for a Chip-free defence. It was clear he was heading elsewhere, regardless of what he might have said to some fans over the fence at training.

As for Tom Scully, I'm surprised anyone believes what he says, in person or to the press. 

Looking forward to Lewis' addition to our midfield.

This was the biggest indication for me, we wouldn't have played our best defender up forward if we saw him as a defender long term

We've rebuilt our club off the back of losing Scully, there's no way he's worth Tyson, Salam and hogan.... I was shattered at the time, but bloody glad now.... The pressure from Jim and media hype got us massive overs in compensation, that we never get in a trade... Look at what Gold Coast got for O'Meara, we scored in that deal... 

this off season is the polar opposite of the dark days of Scully bags and the Alice Springs machete genius.... PJ and Roos have truely transformed this club and I'm forever greatful....

If he was in self preservation mode why did Roos keep picking him, and state he was fully invested in the club until the end, or is Roos not to be believed as well?

Spoke to him at a function, at a cafe, over the fence, so more than once, impression I had was he was 50/50 but then Hawthorn made him an offer he couldn't refuse

But on Demonland  you believe what you want to believe, and it is in the past, although did have a chat to him last season at Casey Collingwood game

Frawley was played in his last year to up his compensation. No doubt about that..... No point dropping him to Casey as pick 3 would not have come our way. No amount of 'party line' comments to club training boundary riders will change this fact. 

Roos comments and selection were designed to up his value, albeit in a position that was not his own and had nothing to do with the future of the club as he was gone 1 year prior to leaving. 

Delusions regarding conversations and delusions of grandeur regarding relationships with players are I play here. I prescribe a large dose of anti psychotics to fix your problem Saty.

Roos picked Chip because in a weak team he was still a good player, despite being ill suited as a forward.  Plus if not, there's every chance our compo could've slipped. Regardless of the AFLs so-called 'formula' for compo, it's still arbitrary and they make it up. Roos is the master of manipulation.

I don't care if you had giggly pillow talk with Chip in bed Saty, it's clear as day to most that his heart wasn't in it at the end and he had taken his foot off the pedal. 

The number of times you claim to have talked to him does not change what happened on the field in terms of his underwhelming performances.

Sat you can't seriously think we played our best defender in the forward line for any reason other than he wasn't going to be in our side long term.. surely?

I know Chip and the club told you things at training but understand that these guys are not your mates, you're a supporter and they're told to be nice to supporters. 

btw the offer on the table from the MFC was every bit as good as the Hawks offer and the Dockers, Cats and Suns had even better offers on the table for him. so again, telling you what he's been told to share with supporters if they ask.

I don't think it was ever about money with Chip, think the opportunity for a premiership was too strong to resist, believe Freo made him a really good offer and he was nearly there until Hawks stepped in

I don't seem to be able to get across to some that yes sometimes the players trot out the company line, but you would be surprised at some of the answers I have been given over the years to questions, I just haven't shared them. Other posters get some really 'interesting' information as well, but choose not to post

Because you don't get decent compensation (Brayshaw) for losing a player if he's played in the reserves all year. La-la-land again, Saty.

He was taking offers from virtually every AFL club, it was happening in season, so no i don't believe he was 100% committed, but i do believe he was told he had to at least seem to be, and so were the club officials, so they've told you what they had to and you bought it hook line and sinker because you think you're mates with them. 

the saddest part is you used to be one of the only posters i would come on demonland to hear from because of your fantastic training reports, photos and asking questions on behalf of posters, but your inability to accept posters rights to have negative views on players is really hurting that and that's a real shame.

I missed most of the excitement about Jordan Lewis wanting to come to the Dee's, I was on a holidays and didn't have access to my mobile so it was a very pleasant surprise when we pulled into Darwin. I always rated JL but disliked him immensely, funny how you change when someone pulls on the Red & Blue, my feelings towards him changed completely. On our trip I also got to visit Milne Bay where Australians and US engineers combined to defeat the Japanese on the ground for the first time in WW2. the RAAF had a big hand in the ensuring defeat and expulsion of the Enemy forces, in particular No. 75 & 76 Kitty Hawk Squadrons. Keith "Bluey" Truscott was squadron Leader of the 76th after the former squadron Leader was K-I-A at Milne bay, so it was nice to visit the battle Field and drive down No.3 Airstrip where "Bluey" and the rest of the two squadrons had distinguished themselves so fearlessly in "hellish" conditions. Go Jordan, Go Dee's!!!!

I trust you are talking about Jordan Lewis and not Chip Frawley or Tom $cully? Because this thread has been seriously de-railed!

However if it is Jordan Lewis to whome you refer, I suspect that we are at least 3 years too late for your wish to come true. If we get two good years from him we'll be doing well and it would be seen (as was Daniel Cross) as a damn good investment for the development of our list.
