I could not support a team with him at the club.   To me he is no better than the drug dealer on the street selling gear to young people.  They do it for money.  Hird selfishly used players, who were entrusted to his care, as guinea pigs for his own egotistical purposes.  Unforgivable in my book.

Anyway, he doesn't have much to offer - is in the 'great player/average coach' category.

He'd bloody well better.  It's be worse than microwave territory.  If Hird came within a mile of the club I'd be writing to the club saying I'll not be renewing my membership.  And mean it.

    Id be beyond wild if he coached at the dees.

    [censored] it took me a whole season to warm to melksham and hibbert. And they are a long way from my favourites no matter how good they are.

    This was a systematic black ops hidden doping program that required the players to sign waivers and leave club premises to have the injections that were imported from china and Mexico with "no records" of any of it. 

    Their punishment has been extremely light.

    How do you feel about one of their assistant coaches at the time now being our senior coach?

    Not overly enthusiastic... i certainly dont love him or even respect him in the same ballpark as the rev or even bails

    not so good.  But it suits me to assume he was a minor cog next to a big wheel.  And part of my antipathy towards Hird is caused by his apologists and they haven't bothered to mention our coach.  Nevertheless I find it difficult to warm to him.  I wonder how warm I'll feel when we win the flag under his watch.

    I can't for the life of me entertain the notion of James "drug cheat" Hird coming to our club. He was the architect of the program.

    The membership will go nuts.

    And besides there is no evidence he is any good. My mail is that he was very much disliked at his previous employer and they were very happy to see him gone.

    However, we must look at the big picture. Provincial difficulties must be risen above and the long range, objective view be held.

    And that is, clearly, that a certain few clubs must never be given an inch. Must always be held in contempt if not with outright hatred.

    GCS and GWS. "Vlad's folly". One for not winning enough and one for winning too much.

     

    I know it's not on the topic de jour, but in one sentence you've identified the AFL's two greatest fears with the northern expansion.

    Someone made an FOI request to ASADA last year to find out what ASADA did in relation to possible anti-doping violations at the MFC:

    Reading about Bradley Wiggins, and the parallels with Essendon is eerie.

    Wiggins denied "any drug was used without medical need."

    But the report from a committee investigating doping since 2015 casts doubt on the integrity of the team and their failure to keep accurate medical records.

    Honestly if you were an essendon fan how stupid would you have to be. The reason the afl was trying to do all that [censored] is TO save essendon. Who should have been kickdd out of the comp for 2 years. Burnside is a human rights lawyer, not a wada code lawyer (a code the players signed up to remember)

      For a brief period of time in the early afternoon of yesterday, the Casey Demons occupied top place on the Smithy’s VFL table. This was only made possible by virtue of the fact that the team was the only one in this crazy competition to have played twice and it’s 1½ wins gave it an unassailable lead on the other 20 teams, some of who had yet to play a game.

      In my all-time nightmare game, the team is so ill-disciplined that it concedes its first two goals with the courtesy of not one, but two, fifty metre penalties while opening its own scoring with four behinds in a row and losing a talented youngster with good decision-making skills and a lethal left foot kick, subbed off in the first quarter with what looks like a bad knee injury.
