Still only a youngster so before we proclaim him a future gun pick up let's just see how he develops.

(Having said that some of my earliest and best memories of AFL are watching the Wiz electrify the MCG!)

Too late, I'm proclaiming him our messiah

I once bumped into the Wiz lining up for the toilets at subi oval. He wasn't wearing any colours though so I asked him where his allegiance lied. He didn't hesitate - Melbourne

Was the Wiz having a wiz?

Something to look forward to:wub: After seeing the Davey boys on the AFL web-site i was also wondering about Flash boys and wondering if maybe there might be one of his sons that could play for the red and blue?

Rumour he’s no longer interested in footy and will focus on beef cattle production in Japan.

Does he have his old mans talent?

The only thing I can think of more exciting than drafting a Wiz Junior would be if we recruited Allen Jakovich Junior

There'd be a fair few of them around..

My understanding is that he's talented. Dad's level? Don't know.

Kobe Farmer, 16, the son of former livewire Jeff, is showing plenty of promise playing at Mandurah in Western Australia. The youngster would be eligible to play for Melbourne or Fremantle with Jeff playing more than 100 games for both clubs. The Demons are hoping Kobe may be able to participate in some of their father-son academy activities later this year.

I like what you did there....

Dude on a facebook group I frequent says that they taught young Kobe and he’s a massive Dockers fan...

I think the bigger concern would be that he seems to be living in WA, having played for Mandurah.  Will be hard to get him all the way over to Victoria, and keeping him here. (Just ask his father)

Thats if AFL.com were right.

Its been said on here by multiple people that Jeff lives in Melbourne now.  So either Jeff doesn't live with Kobe or he does but either in Melbourne (meaning afl.com are wrong) or WA (meaning the posters here were wrong).

I thought Jeff and Kobe both lived in Victoria these days?

A google search of his name brings up a bunch of match reports from WA football leagues (and a small role in the Cloud Street mini-series)

The overwhelming majority of people have their footy allegiances determined by their father. Not a choice of their own.

Seems like the Wiz would have been in his ear, trying to steer him to follow the Dees also. I expect that would have a higher than "barely relevant" influence on his sons choices.

Not always so.

Our first had a choice between the Dees or Pies (wife and inlaws - not sure how they slipped that past me on the Health Assessment I had them complete) and because he has a brain and is sane, went Dees.

Of course the quiet "Go Dees" on the couch every morning as he had his morning bot and cuddle had nothing to do with it.

(In the interests of fairness, #2 due in 22 weeks will most likely have a choice but mum has been very clear it will be bubs' choice and she won't steer. AND THAT WILL BE A FATAL ERROR.)

We'll just have to poach him 100 games into his career as he reaches his peak. It will be a nice dose of Farmer Karma for Freo. So pencil 2025 in.

  • REPORT: Brisbane

“Max Gawn has been the heart and soul of the Dees for years now, but this recent recovery from a terrible start has been driven by him. He was everywhere again, and with the game in the balance, he took several key marks to keep the ball in the Dees forward half.” - The Monday Knee Jerk Reaction: Round Ten Of course, it wasn’t the efforts of one man that caused this monumental upset, but rather the work of the coach and his assistants and the other 22 players who took the ground, notably the likes of Jake Melksham, Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver and Kozzie Pickett but Max has been magnificent in taking ownership of his team and its welfare under the fire of a calamitous 0-5 start to the season. On Sunday, he provided the leadership that was needed to face up to the reigning premier and top of the ladder Brisbane Lions on their home turf and to prevail after a slow start, during which the hosts led by as much as 24 points in the second quarter. Titus O’Reily is normally comedic in his descriptions of the football but this time, he was being deadly serious. The Demons have come from a long way back and, although they still sit in the bottom third of the AFL pack, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel as they look to drive home the momentum inspired in the past four or five weeks by Max the Magnificent who was under such great pressure in those dark, early days of the season.

  • CASEY: Southport

The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demons’ poor use of the football, it’s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbell’s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.

Just a game and percentage outside the Top 8, the Demons return to Melbourne to face the Sydney Swans at the MCG, with a golden opportunity to build on the momentum from toppling the reigning premiers on their own turf. Who comes in, and who makes way?
