Does our Melbourne Membership get us into the Grandfinal?

As a Dee's member we have to pay extra for finals, that way we save money on our memberships!!!

Did  I miss any well performed MFC players. Not a great game by the rest.

The Casey boys were very good.

my impression too. lot of room for improvement from some. A few really carried the load. Dunny bog for mine

Garland was pretty good from what I saw. Don't know his final stats.

Yes ... you are correct. Missed what happened to him but I noticed he was absent in the second half and then they showed him during the final quarter in the track suit on the bench.

Clinical win by the Scorps. Looking forward to witnessing Oliver's final ever VFL game next week.  Dunn did his potential trade value no harm. Joel Smith with a full preseason next year could be very interesting.

I am still one for keeping Dunn. He was sensational today. Not only can he play defence, he can go forward and kick a long goal. I don't understand the desire ny many on here to trade him.

Garland however to me is cooked.

A few observations.

ANB racks up possessions and does little with them. His disposal today was atrocious.

Salem will be a gun.

Oliver will be a canon. This kid is fantastic.

Weed has a long way to go, but will be better with more muscle.

McInerney showed a bit and if we could rookie him that would improve our ruck depth.

I am not a fan of Ben Kennedy.

Newton is limited.

Michie is a VFL player.

Spencer was great, in the ruck and around the ground. Gave a couple of frees away only because he tried so hard. He is a handy backup to Gawn.

Disagree I thought Spencer was good.

Joel Smith.

Thought he looked very promising. Nice disposal as well. Not slow either.

Oliver - a beast built for finals
Salem - a class above until he fell victim to the North Port appealing cricket wickets
Dunn - excellent

ANB - effort is there but decision making bad
Joel Smith - needs to work on his consistency but he does some great things and a willing tackler
Garland - pretty solid, finished on the bench?

Michie - decent enough, tackling and contested ball were good
Mitch White - solid enough, especially before tweaking an ankle. Intercept marking very goo
Newton - similar to Michie
Matt Jones - the good and the bad, high work rate
Trengove - some classy moments but very slow and unable to pressure up forward or escape from contests

Weids - not his day, constantly in packs against 4 opponents and 3 team mates, couldn't impact defensively. Did bring the ball to ground though so there was a bit of positive
Kennedy - rarely sighted and scrappy, didn't get in to any space
Spencer - rubbish but did at least nullify Meese

Terlich, Grimes and maybe Hulett to come in next week. Salem particularly would be in doubt. Then there might be someone unlucky. Keilty, Hutchins, Smith in particular were great from the Casey boys and others made contributions. McInerny is a prospect.

We must have been watching a different game. He did nothing in the ruck, and when the ball is kicked high in his vicinity, he can't read the flight of the ball to get in a position to mark. I'd rather have either of Footscrays's ruckmen in Minson or Campbell as back up to Gawn.

Baffling decision to give him a 1 year extension mid year.

Can't mark, doesn't spoil with authority, missed a simple set shot, gave away a bunch of silly frees.

He cracks in and makes his presence felt but even at VFL level he doesn't have any footy smarts. The young fella showed more footy smarts in short bursts than Spencer has in 5 years.

And his hit out numbers are bogus because he doesn't have any control of the contest to hit to advantage. He limited the VFL's best ruckman and an important player, but I expected more.

Campbell's not in great form and will play forward a fair bit but I expect Minson to work Spencer over in the ruck duels. Despite being one of the most physically imposing guys he still has very little strength in ruck contests. He's only a few cms shorter, has plenty of leap and is probably stronger but Gawn smashes him at training just as Jamar used to.

Must have been.

Spencer started a lot our play by picking up the ball and giving it to a team mate.

I would also say his pressure acts stats were high.

It was hard to direct hit outs to a loose man, as there weren't any around the contest, due to the way both clubs play man on man, leading to a lot of ball ups

He negated Meese's usual influence and was scragged relentlessly by Meese at every ball up.

Thought he did ok.

Not good news..

Casey Scorpions coach Justin Plapp already ruling Christian Salem out of the @VFL GF. 'Really bad concussion, that one', he said.

Would love the club (be that Melb or Casey) to put a complaint in to the VFL about the surface. Those practice wickets looked like they were ready to play on.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
