I must say i had doubts about him, but i'm glad to admit i was wrong; he has played some very good footy this year and has helped the back line. So i have to say sorry Hibby.

So good to get a goody (in fact more than one) from the Druggers, after Moorcroft, Heffernen etc

I forgot about those two, you are spot on, we have struck gold with this one.

And we all know how we love to see a #*$$@! off druggie supporter:lol:

Hasn't put a foot wrong all year, one of the best recruits I've seen since following the Dees.

Reminds me of steven icke. Not so much in style, more the fact that icky was a brilliant pick up (and also an excellent defender).

Looked at him very closely in fantasy the year he was rubbed out. Had him very high indeed, almost a keeper. So when we targeted him I was doing cartwheels. I didn't think he'd be this good though. He's exceeded even my lofty expectations.

The only downside... I wish he was 23.

gotta love Paul Roos!

Imagine if the Bombers still had him. Horrible thought.

They'd have won a bunch more games with him in this form

He's exactly what they need IMO.

You bloody super star pig! Kept us in that in the 3rd quarter almost single handedly.

He really is a superstar, holy [censored].

Thanks Essendrug.

Both Hibberd and Melksham had great games yesterday.

Hibberd was sensational. Robbie Grey and Wingard hardly got a possession. He's fast, heavy and he closes space so well, then his tackles stick.

Port were badly outcoached letting Hibberd roam free like that. We used him so effectively coming out of defence. I think he'll get tagged more often.

I don't actually notice him that much in games compared to other players like Viney and Jetta, but he just goes about his game in a no nonsense, business like manner and gets the job done, week in, week out.

His disposal stands out like dogs balls it's that good.

And we got a guy that should probably be AA this year for what now?

Michael hibberd - 2017 best and fairest and recruit or the year leading Melbourne to its finals appearance in a decade.

A persistent  problem for the last decade has been poor kicking skills. Hibberd and Melksham  have made a huge difference in improving that.

Also ranked 1st on my man love list.

Hibberd is now in Lloyds rolling All Australian team on the SUnday Footy show. Our only player in the team.

And of course the biased clown has 4 Essendrug players in there  - including Fantasia, ahead of Jeff Garlett - what a joke.

This is also off the back of his article on Saturday about how the Bombers 'can beat anyone'.  Turn it up, Velvet.

Forgot to mention that not only did he add Fantasia in ahead of Garlett, but he dropped Betts for him too.

No bias at all of course.

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?
