Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

How much have they helped our younger players? Our back line is the youngest line of our young team.  You'd think if anyone needed a bit of experience, it'd be us.  Alas, we seemed to have coped just fine without them.

I'd be amazed if we got anything for these two.  Roos and Goodwin might as well have duct taped signs saying CAN'T PLAY MODERN DEFENCE on to their foreheads.

I see your point. But Brisbane now are more like where we were about 3 years ago.

2017 for them will be like 2014 for us, when we had to build from the foundations up with more solid defensive structures. Dunn & Garland & Grimes may not be the right picks for us in 2016, but as good one-on-one players, they were the right men for the job in 2014.

We obviously won't get "Crazy Vossy" prices for them, but their prospects for regular games would surely be better at Brisbane.

I am just the messenger. BTW I would still keep Dunn as Insurance but am happy to let Garland explore better opportunities. However if someone made a decent offer for Dunn, well we couldn't stand in his way could we?

I'd have thought Dunn was the one you let go, because he's much less mobile in my opinion.

I think Dunn is a better player than Garland and more versatile. I find Garland is timid and takes the wrong option and disposes poorly under pressure.

Teamplayedfine39, why would Dunn and Garland want to play for a basket case in Brisbane? (1) They are not going to get game time at Melbourne and hence no more contract renewal (2) Gaining the right people to run the club will be great,Leigh Mathews will give the club a massive shake up. note:- Dunn and Garland have both played forward B4.

I reckon a package of Dawes/Dunn or Garland would have to be tempting, two experienced starting best 22 ( for them and probably noone else ) key position players, and allow us to keep one of Dunn or Garland as insurance

I suspect they would be more interested in Grimes & Dunn to help with leadership as they rebuild the right way.

Grimes is a free agent so we have no real power to trade him to the Lions unless he wants to go there anyway.

Trade,  don't know about trade,  but I think he would be of use to them.  Grimey is a mature man & player, who doesn't suit our zone structures.

A change for him will be beneficial to his game mind & to the club he goes to.  Old habits are hard to break in the old environment.

I think Garlo is more versatile & coach-able.  Maybe why he got 3yrs last year.

Dunn is capable for a team with a different setup than our gameplan, a more trad game plan.  He would be good for brissy  depending on their structures, & also Dawes could help them with leadership.  These both being conservative leaders.

They need to lose some of that street cred up there, & gain some smarts.  They will be in transition from here on, so will need players who can steady them.

The other one is Grimesy, but he may join his brother?

I think the most likely, if Brissy like any of these 3 players, is we will trade with them, for players.   Who I don't know, i don't know their list well enough.

Maybe this thread is not just wishful thinking (granted 38 is much more likely)

You were spot on with their interest, mate.  Well done!

I agree - Pick 38 is more likely, but could we talk them into Pick 20?  I doubt it, but stranger things have happened.

Salem for pick 20... tempting ??

He is so ready to go but injury concerns still exist around his ability to put games together.

Not at all. I'd only be giving up Salem for an A grader, not a speculative pick 20.

If I were the MFC, I'd be trying to get more currency from pick 26 than a straight swap for Hibberd.

Brisbane have St Kilda's second round pick this year (pick 28), so I'd try trading out pick 26 & Dunn for pick 20 & 28. Essentially Brisbane downgrade pick 20 six places, and give up pick 28 for Dunn (which we on-trade for Hibberd).

Gives us pick 20 as our first live pick in the draft.

No one's giving that up for Lynden Dunn mate.  He's 29 years old, not 25.

Imagine if we were trading in a Dunn or Pederson or Cloke.  You'd be livid if we gave anything more than pick 50 or 60.

We're talking about Brisbane here, who have consistently given up overs to get players in the door. They're desperate.

Dunn is a contracted KPP, they don't grow on trees.

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
