Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

If Hawthorn are not going to get pick 7 for Hill, then how does this deal work then??

I didn't say they wont get Pick 7, I said he alone isn't worth Pick 7, that's why it would be Hill & Pick 14 or 16 for Pick 7.

Do you think a fair bit of mayonnaise was put on Burgoynes and possibly now JO'M knee troubles to assist in the negotiating?

No.  Not with Burgoyne.

And certainly not with O'Meara.  He hasn't played for 2 years because of his knees.

My understanding from a couple of years ago was TS knee would never come good. He'd be a very good player ATM with a good knee then.

They do take risks 'Sat', think Garlett...very much a risk that didn't pay off.

There were another couple but I can't remember names.

Not all they touch turns to gold.

I think they are punting now, at the end of an era and not a lot of currency apart from the destination factor.

They haven't been game enough to make the big calls, going for one more flag might have just tipped them over.

I don't see Mitchell (Sydney version) as a saviour of their midfield, to me he is a vanilla kick getter and not much more. O'Meara fit is a jet but as we've seen with Trenners, 2 years out is a big ask.

Hopefully out of it this Friday night, straight sets and then the on the slide.

Everything about Garlett 'seemed' good, through contacts I had, was 'willing and ready' to give red hot crack, didn't work out, but they didn't lose much

The AFL won't get involved. Last time they interfered in a trade they stopped Frawley going to Sydney (because of the perception Sydney was doing too well out of free agency) so Frawley instead went to Hawthorn (obviously there is no perception Hawthorn is doing too well out of free agency).

Frawley was going to Fremantle until Hawthorn stepped in

Cancelled his plane ticket.

But not the one to Fremantle where he was seen at least twice before Hawthorn stepped in

By preventing the Swans from using their bonus living allowance to trade for players.

You mean the same allowance they used on Tippett and Franklin?, Frawley was a free agent, not trade

Hawks can have him. Injury is a serious concern. Not worth the risk IMO. Not only won't O'Meara be the player that he was before injury, but it is highly likely he will break down again (and because of this injury). If talks break down between GC and Hawthorn, I hope we don't entertain O'Meara. We don't need to take the risk.

Let's face it King, it's Hawthorn, so given their luck he'll be fit as a fiddle and won't miss a game for the next five years.  If he'd come to Melbourne he would have broken down in the first training session and never played again #MFCSS

Come on we have turned the corner now, he says avoiding ladders, mirrors and clutching his rabbit foot and four leaf clover, we had 40 odd ready to go last weekend of the season

By my reckoning Frawley is the only player Hawthorn have got from free agency.  All of the others have been trades.

Hawthorn are obviously a "destination" club, but they haven't benefited much from free agency.  They lost on Franklin leaving under the same system.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
