The lynch mob would still be burning an effigy of Dawes if it had been him that missed that goal...

Can't you just give Pedo credit for his effort and contribution Stu?

Pedo is no star, he's very handy depth who tries his guts out. He's leaving Dawes for dead and had more impact than Hogan against Port.

What happened to your "the coaches choose Dawes every time over Pedo" line? Not working for you anymore?

For those that saw the VFL match, where did BenKen and ANB play most of the game on the weekend?

No chance he would not have had the ball in the first place. Dawes is in his correct place.

The club should consult Dr BBO. He's the expert on nasty fungal infections of the groin.

Also Mr. Shadow could you imagine Dawes taking the marks that Pedersen took?

Not sure if you listened to the Casey game on radio yesterday, but the commentators were laughing at how bad Dawes is and how he cant hold a simple mark. The guy even has concrete hands at VFL level.

I went to the game on Sunday and its a joke at how bad his hands really are.. There was a bit of play where Salem kicks it lace out to a leading Dawes.. No joke the ball bounces off his palms, up into the air and into the defenders arms for a rebound play. He'd be a great addition to the men's Olympic volleyball team. Can't see a place for him in our side moving forward.

I doubt he has qualified for Casey finals dc so he may have one game left.

Only in a Warner Bros cartoon OD.

Casey

Not talking about their relative qualities (although Dawes kicked more goals in his last 2 games than Pedo has in his last 2), I'm talking about the ridiculousness of the double standard.

I have given credit to Pedo, surprised you haven't seen it seeing you stalk me and reply to all my posts. You would also note that I've said that Pedo seems the more likely out of the two to be around next year. But of course, not like you to miss the actual point of the post which was to point out the double standard. Oh, and yes now Pedo has the glory of being chosen once ahead of Dawes when both were fit.

Both played most of the game at Casey Fields :pj:

They both played on ball mostly

Effectively we are now gearing up for our Rd 23 final against Geelong, so I can't see much change happening in next two weeks, but we will find out a few things about club player assessment.

1) If Jeffy is out - do we give the in-form JKH a try or do we go with Salem and switch Harmes forward or do we give any one of our high possession winners from the VFL a final chance - ie: M.Jones, Michie, Grimes, Neal-Bullen, Trengove. My gut feel is Roosy will want to see Salem first and JKH second. I agree with the poster who said BenKen should play ahead of JKH if it is wet, but I reckon Roosy will want to see how JKH is going to go pre-finals (should we somehow get there).

2) Given we are still a developing side, it would be amazing if Weids didn't get another chance against the Blues this week. Then depending on his form a decision can be made as to whether Dawes or Pedo will come back in for the Geelong game. Pedo is the obvious omission, although I accept that Hoges was terrible last week. But he may enjoy being given more of a licence to roam this week.

3) If they want both JKH and Salem, then Harmes is the obvious additional out - although he may just be rested with the six-day break against the Cats in mind.

The other outside chance is that Wags could return after doing his two-week time in VFL - although from the VFL report, he was solid not spectacular last week.

Having said that, they were still referring to "Trengrove"!!  Its not that hard, he was only the captain of the club and has been around for 7 years!!!

Those commentators on Casey radio are absolutely atrocious. They constantly get names wrong. One game early in the year they were calling Gus as the player with the ball. Meanwhile he was on the bench. Pitiful as Jed Clampett would say.  But Dawes marking was not a highlight and as the coach of Werribee said of his 3 goals  " Dawes kicked three (goals) but a couple of them were pretty easy ones," Dyer said. IMO Hullett or Weed would have kicked 6.

With doubts on Garlett, I would love to see Trenners back for this week at least. Judging by the VFL report(s) on the MFC website, he has been doing everything right the last month and he would certainly pull his weight at senior level.

It would also be good to see the Weed back this week, unfortunately at he expense of "Mark-of-the-Week" Pedo!

You wish, but no.

And I'm sure this convo will be deleted thanks to your unreasonable reply. Good one.

Please put me on ignore.

Once again Moonie you are incorrectly (and perhaps obsessively) focussed  on my nethers when my perennial recurrent fungal issues are in fact the property of my podiatrist.

I thought the only fungal issue we had on here were the Fungal Mages who post on here

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

Salem proved to be a valuable contributor as a reliable and solid one-on-one medium-sized defender in what was undoubtedly his most impressive season since the premiership year. He remains a highly capable rebounding option for the Demons as he approaches his 200th game at the club.
