Pairing off for 30mtr sprints now Jack Watts putting a meter on Trengove each time. Jetta quicker than some think. Kent and Jeffy a good match up. You'll be pleased to know that Dawsy leads out in the running stuff!

Goal kicking in two groups now. Most excel with no pressure. Fair to say Trenners lacks penetration but may be keeping it conservative to avoid further foot issues. Watts dead-eye, as is Hogan and Garlett. Frost gets good distance as does Pederson

Small group competitive stuff around the oval now. Wagner has a thigh bandage above the right knee, no other strapping, seems mobile. Small forwards, Kent, Kennedy, Jeff & JKH... Working on bumping then receiving before shot on goal. All low key at the moment in light rain

Thanks WW, great stuff. How is Brayshaw moving. Its funny in a way (and a good indication of our improvement i think) how little commentary there has been (both here on DL and more broadly) about the impact of not having him playing seniors.

I mean he was brilliant last year and a real key for us. Easily one of the best first year players in the AFL last year, as reflected in his high RS finish. Will be a huge addition if he comes back in fit and firing. to a lesser extent the same is true of Salem.

Many heading in now, mainly Seconds out on the field. That includes Oliver, Trenners, ANB, Hulett, Weiderman, Garland, Dunn, JKH, King, Spencer & Dawes. Michie went in with others, Grimes exited with main group but stayed chatting with supporters. Not sure if this is a selection predictor but Wagner still on the track with seconds working with Crossy. Brayshaw appears to have left with main group. Dawes is being put through full on body to body work v Garland and Dunn

To be fair, Dawes did everything asked of him today with willingness and high energy. If he plays with that zest we wouldn't have the disappointment of Sunday

Sorry 'WW' but Dawes always seems to do everything with willingness and high energy, that's not his problem.

Unfortunately it appears the game has passed him by.

For mine I wouldn't have him in the team this week.

If he's selected I hope I'm proved wrong and he has a blinder.

As much as I would love to see that & happy to be proven wrong about his value to the team.. I'm frightened that his ability to take a mark (which is already horrendous) will be further hindered by the humidity. If he's not pinch-hitting in the ruck.. I don't understand what his 'role' is.. we have enough leaders out there.. we just need 22 players to ensure the 4 points.

That makes two of us rjay.

I have never doubted the effort he puts in.

It seems in the past the team have been happy for him to be the big man bursting packs and if he snagged a couple and took a few marks then that was a bonus. He does this better than Pedo and I think is a big reason why he gets the nod to play first. I also have the feeling that if Pedo were fit he would be int he team as we need the marks and goals he provides now more than we need the pack bursting as we are not as reliant on that as we were in the past.

Smith didn't stand out. He is working his way back after a longish rehab. I reckon he needs another month to get back to the shape and form he was in. I agree with what others are saying about Dawes. However, I reiterate that on the track he looked quite a bit more impressive than the younger aspirants. I reckon he does too much running around in the games and is buggered later in the contest. At this stage I feel he would benefit from playing as a deeper key forward who can lead up. Going by my theory on those who stayed out on the track today, Dawes won't be going to Darwin, but he trained like someone had told him he has one more chance!

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

    TRAINING: Wednesday 11th December 2024

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
