  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Please no Dawes, the pace of the game has passed old iron gloves bye. With 8 games to go i believe its time to throw the youngsters in for a taste.

His flat hand, two grabbing marking style might suit Darwin, the humidity might soften the concrete.

Brayshaw was moving well, I would say he is in the mix following on from very good workout at Punt Rd on Sunday

Thought his game was pretty scratchy and ineffective myself WW

Smith didn't stand out. He is working his way back after a longish rehab. I reckon he needs another month to get back to the shape and form he was in. I agree with what others are saying about Dawes. However, I reiterate that on the track he looked quite a bit more impressive than the younger aspirants. I reckon he does too much running around in the games and is buggered later in the contest. At this stage I feel he would benefit from playing as a deeper key forward who can lead up. Going by my theory on those who stayed out on the track today, Dawes won't be going to Darwin, but he trained like someone had told him he has one more chance!

He does a lot of running but that's pretty much a pre requisite for any hard working forward now WW. Unfortunately much of his running is at snails pace. He can't really lead and haven't seen him do so in the four games this year as his opponent matches/and or gets in front of him pretty easily. Our forward entries are stymied with him in the team as he generally doesn't get into a lead option nor is he able to clunk contested marks over the back or in a pack.

This. Hulett should have been in this week for Dawes just for a brief look and try for 2 to 3 matches.

I forgot to mention, White exited training with the main group!!!!

Thanks for the updates WW. Perplexing selections vs the outs considering the form guide from the Crows/ Tigers matches and the style of player going out/coming in.

P.S. I noticed everyone doing a stack of short passing drills today.

Had we hit more short targets or kicked to our advantage coming i50 on Sunday we may have won. We burn so many on the lead I reckon they sometimes figure they'll probably have a  better chance playing from behind. There was an occasional strike but not enough to build much confidence. Hulk a classic example where he was missed on a number of leads early. Reverted back to playing from behind me thinks. Then ppl say he plays from behind too often

Goal kicking in two groups now. Most excel with no pressure. Fair to say Trenners lacks penetration but may be keeping it conservative to avoid further foot issues. Watts dead-eye, as is Hogan and Garlett. Frost gets good distance as does Pederson

Meanwhile our other key forward was bringing the ball to the ground, and kicking behinds??? ??

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
