Lumumba's future?

Featured Replies

Doesn't go into much detail but i always thought something fishy was going on especially since his concussion came absolutely from no where and with no time limit set.

Did start training last week but who knows.

[censored].

Well, the most important thing is his health. So I really hope he can sort that out and get back to a good place before he thinks about playing again. Would love to see him back out there though.

Link doesn't work for me. What's the story? Personal issues?

I wish 3AW 693 had shown him in a Melbourne jumper instead of a Collingwood one! Some of these media outlets show no respect.

link broken?

"You're saying that there is a chance that he won't play this year?"

"Well, I said that about Chris Yarran." says Scoop.

LOL like they have anything to do with each other.

They've dropped the story, what did it say?

All it said was that they believed Lumumba was dealing with personal issues on top of his concussion and that he may be placed on the LTI because of it.

There were no quotes from the club, from Lumumba, his manager etc.  Just seemed to be pure speculation and nothing more.

FWIW overheard someone at training on Sat ask him if he was any chance of getting back (not sure if they said this week or just any chance soon) and his response was something along the lines of "Not even close".

Either it's not factual and "Scoop" is a scumbag for making it up, OR it is factual and he's a scumbag for running off to tell everyone on radio about it.

Either way....

He's probably heard something and just run with it, and the fact they've pulled the article doesn't look all that flash.  It seems they didn't follow it up and might have been caught out reporting something that wasn't factual.  There may well be some other factors involved in Lumumba's absence, but clearly these guys haven't done their due diligence on it.

Due dilligence? He said something about Yarran once, what more do you want.

Fair chance mate.

He got knocked out at Etihad I seem to recall.

During the St Kilda game and the umpires let the Saints run over the injured player for a goal.

article is not pulled. i just clicked on it and listened to the 3aw recording

Just listening to the audio of this "story"

"It's been put to me that he may be put on the long term injury list so that the club can upgrade a player - now the club say that's news to them."

Journalism at its finest.

Different photo and far less text than what was originally put up.

Hmm immediately ithink...who wrote it and why ? Ch9 news showed a 'grab' of Harry back on track.

Funny buggers galore

Ever noticed how every time this forum starts having a go at the media, sometimes within minutes faeces start floating around the ether. WTF.

As I understood it he was/ still is having some quite severe after effects from the concussion. So if thats "personal issues" then thats what is meant. Personally I think they may be smart to wrap him up for the year.

I spoke to Heritier after training today where he was doing mainly kicking and running drills with Daniel Cross. I asked him if he was going to be playing again soon and his words were 'I will be back after the break.' That maybe is his view and the Club may have a different view but he said it in a friendly, happy way that I came away believing him.

Took longer than Brayshaw to recover when AB had multiple concussions this year. I think we can all add 1+1 and get 2. But we aren't all desperate footy journo's.

Apparently H is back training which means if things go well he can play again soon - be it at Casey - and things can progress from there.

I hate the idea of reporting on a personal issue. If it's personal leave it that way.

If it's family, mental or physical health, drugs, alcohol, crime or whatever that's fine, report that when the person involved has given permission or when it really is in the publics interest.

There's lots of studies that indicate the effects get much worse as you get older. When you consider that H would have likely had multiple concussions through his career already then I think you're adding 1+1 and getting 3 mate.

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.
