The Macs will get better next year , so will the team. I beleive Roos has got the mix of players right.We still could do with a CHF and a CHB. Another backup ruckman/forward would be nice. 

Gaining Hurley (which I think is remote) without losing Tom would be massive. But simply swapping one for the other is minimal advancement.

Hopefully Weideman or Hulett will eventually fill the CHF role.

There are a few positions in my opinion that are available after this years draft. We should be delisting more than previous years and so it will be an opportunity to try out another clubs discards and the other club trying out ours.

 

I didn't see Hawthorn leaving a spot empty or draft a young kid in their list instead of taking Jack Fitzpatrick

You can't compare Cross to Vickery or Houli...

Cross was and still is a leader, someone you look up to for getting every ounce of talent plus more out of himself. He didn't leave anything on the track and he still pushes the boys at training.

Compare that to Vickery, one of the dumbest, laziest players in the competition and Houli an outside runner at best. No comparison.

As for trading our discards for theirs

Lachlan Hansen of North? Don't know if it has been mentioned, and obviously out of favour and form at North. Was a strong defender a few years back, ahead of Robbie Tarrant. Don't really know how he has played this year, but thought it was worth a mention on the cheap.

sounds interesting, finds the ball a lot, tackles and draft combine results suggest that he has both good pace & stamina. Anyone on the board seen much of him live this year?

Does Barrett play predominantly inside or outside?

Whilst he goes well at a weak league, what special tricks does he have to help him push thru at AFL legs?

Fair bit of news floating around in the media about Hibberd right now. Just got told minor details about his situation. We are offering him 4 years, not sure of the money. Essendon only offering him 2 (on top of the 1 year he has left on his contract), so effectively 3. If Essendon want him, all they need to do is offer one more year, if not Hibberd should (and would be stupid not to) take our deal. Is it wise offering 4? Not sure. But if thats what it takes to get the deal over the line, and we aren't paying him overs, i'm all for it. 

One of my last posts was saying that i'd been told he would re-commit to Esendon. This is still possible, due to his will to stay at Essendon with his mates. But money may sway him over our way, just like in many other cases. Let me re-iterate we will have to trade for him.

Braysure, it sounds like he doesnt really want to come and is using us as a bargaining chip!  Don't like it at all!  Tell him to stay put!

Like it less if DA is right about 2017 1st rnd.

Can't imagine Mahoney, Taylor and Viney will let that happen, regardless of the mateship between Goodwin and Hibbered.

There is no way he is worth a first round pick in any year.  Let alone a gamble pick based on where we finish at the end of next year.  What happens if we lose 3-4 critical players for half a season next year and finish bottom 4.  Hibberd for pick 4. That's fanciful. Even if we manage to finish top 8 he isn't worth a pick around 10-12.  

If Josh Mahoney agrees to that he should be marched out of the club.  He is a second round pick at best.  This year it will be low 20's which I still think is too high.  

He is a one-sided half back with good (not amazing) skills that hasn't played a game in 12 months.  Who knows what condition he will come back in?  

Anything better than around pick 25 is too much, he can stay at Essendon. He is a slightly better player than Melksham and it was widely agreed that we paid 'overs' for him.  If that's the case we can pay unders for Hibberd.

Would hate to see a 2017 first rounder put on the table. Personally I think he is worth somewhere between 25-35. Previous to the 12 going overseas they all trained together (plus crameri, melksham) for a good 2 or so months or so. They would all be in good knick and when showing up to preseason training there will be players in worse shape. Not playing the game for a whole season is a worry.. although I guess it isn't any different to a player doing an ACL early in the year and missing the year, eg. Libba last year.. he has played great footy this year. 

Not worth a 1st round pick at all. 

Particularly if he really doesn't want to move.

If that's Hibberd's motivation, I hope he stays at the Bombers. He's not that important a player to warrant a 4 year deal, as neither was Melksham.

Hurley on the other hand is a different kettle of fish. I'd throw the kitchen sink at him.

For Roos' entire tenure, the club has been spruiking about landing a big fish, and failed. This year is looking no different.

2017 first rounder and 2016 second rounder plus a player i'd say not sure which player but it would be a massive deal if it happened

This would be a massive trade in so many more ways than just Free Enterprise, and Restraint of Trade at work in the AFL. Unity in Strength, and are these blokes taking on the System. The mind boggles.....

We already have quite a rivalry with the Druggies and this would only increase it. Good for the game, IMO.

Imagine our game against them next year. Three of their former players; their only win for 2016 coming against us; they'd be aiming for the 8; we'd be aiming for the 8. If these two trades eventuate, this has Friday night blockbuster written all over it.
